Noob here just looking to be pointed in the correct direction

Howdy folks name's Ryan. im a euro fanatic and tuner my father and bestfriend are now taunting me as they both have purchased n54 powered machines one being a 08 335i the other being a 08 135i. i feel very strongly on OTS maps and refuse to have them pay out the wazoo for a paper weight i've fixed plenty of subaru's and Evo's as well as Saabs. so i started reading and seeing which device i'll need to gather a connection to the ecu but i haven't seen anything for software i'm interested in poking around a stock file to see how this is going to be looking for me if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be beyond appreciated hoping i could possibly make a write up for someone as myself and other's that may come in handy Click here to enlarge please excuse me if i have something right in front of my face and don't realize it lol thanks everyone in advance hopefully i'll be purchasing a 335i in the near future Click here to enlarge

    - you can flash your own maps if you really know what you are doing. but you can easily brick your ecu if you aren't careful.

    - at least familiarize yourself with the suite of BMW software (INPA, Rheingold, Winkfp, and etc.) if you want to pursue that route

    - or just get a MHD license, OTS maps, INPA cable, and a cheap android tablet/phone... honestly, that's the by far the best and safest route for a newbie.

    good luck

MHD and a custom lifetime tune is still cheaper than a cobb fwiw.

There is also alot of things you need MHD for unless you think you can figure out how to replicate them all(almost impossible). But if you stay just FBO I guess you can live without it.

Why don't you use the free bimmerboost software?

Release dates are a strange thing. I prefer not to let anybody down. Let's just wait.

im very comfortable with mapping of cars i've been doing it since i'm 16 i'm 22 years old so i've had my fair share of odd things on many platforms. im just going to be ordering the tool to connect to the ecu of the vehicle and i'll be diving right on in just wish i knew what the bimmerboost software looked like. would anyone be kind enough to post maybe some screen shots of some of the maps like fueling ignition maf request etc ?

There are a few options for tuning, most popular are MHD, Cobb, BBApp and OpenFlash. Each has it's own advantages, all depends what you're looking for. I'm looking to sell my Openflash since I've gone with MHD and no longer need it, if you're interested. MHD requires an adroid device and proper cable to work, OFT is it's own handheld device, as is Cobb AP. MHD and OFT both allow you to customize your own maps, a lot of us use TunerPro to look at and customize .bins.
