VAG IS38 turbo record improved to 11.1@125 by MKVII Golf GTI running flash and JB4 stack
Last month this MKVII Golf GTI ran 11.295 @ 124.20. A very impressive time and a record for the IS38 turbocharger which comes from the factory on the Volkswagen MKVII Golf R and the Audi S3. The owner shaved that time down to 11.172 @ 125.93 now.
This is a front wheel drive Golf with a factory turbocharger knocking on the 10 second door. Obviously the tuning plays a huge role as APR's tune plus the BMS JB4 stack is doing wonders.
Don't forget the meth system or the Golf R intercooler either.
Congratulations to the owner:

Very impressive. Does anyone have plans to modify the IS38? I'd love to see a golf run deep 10's at 135mph with $5,000 in mods.

I don't know about easy, but they're right there. That is a DIRT CHEAP recipe for a very fast brand new car if the stock internals can hold up. I'd imagine you're only looking at $7,500 in mods to hit those numbers. I think a base GTI is something like $25,000 and a used car is probably in the low $20,000 range. Pretty great combo.

Apparently the limit on a stock motor is 450 awhp which requires a larger turbo than the IS38. Many options out there and I'm trying to figure out which one to go with. I'm trapping 114 in the 1/4 and 137 in the half with only JB4, intercooler, intake, and downpipe. I'm at $2,500 or so. Probably cost about $5,000 more to hit 450 awhp.

Because I'm just running a JB4 at 25 psi. That car is flashed and using the JB4 to add more boost; I'm thinking close to 30 psi. I38 won't last long at that level.
