PTF Stage 1 Bootmod3 OTS pump gas flash gets over 600 rwhp from an F10 M5 tune only

PTF (Pro Tuning Freaks) is really impressing with their Bootmod3 tuning software on a variety of BMW platforms. Look at these OTS (off the shelf) tuned S63TU results with just the Bootmod3 Stage 1 pump gas ECU flash.

609 rear wheel horsepower and 592 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. Incredible numbers for just a flash.

Now, in order to use the PTF Bootmod3 software and do OBD-II flash tuning (which also allows remote tuning like the F10 M5 in the article) the ECU must first be unlocked. After it is unlocked, you can then get custom dyno tunes, do OTS tunes, downpipe tunes, race gas tunes, etc. Whatever you want the car to be tuned for really.

Then again, you can just set it forget it with an OTS map and enjoy an immensely powerful car.

This looks promising. Biggest concern for me with a flash tune for the f10 m5 was the fact that you have to send in your dme to get taken apart and chipped. If I'm reading correctly, this process does not involve that and is all software related for the unlocking of the dme correct? Another question is, does this or will this have the option for the top speed delete?

No. It says in the article the DME needs to be unlocked.

I don't think PTF has the ability just yet to unlock through OBD-II.

So it still has to be sent in and opened up to enable obd2 flashing? What's the big hype about?

The DME never had to be "chipped". All they do is open up the DME or drill the DME case (super easy and safe if you are competent) use a couple of leads to touch the board, and enable obd2 flashing

Its a cobb-esque offering. Datalogging, remote tuning, flash via android or Iphone.. it offers quite a bit of features not previously found on M platforms. Most people were just doing basic off the shelf flashing and forget it.. no datalogging features or things that N54 guys have been spoiled with.

Once they figure out how to read the key via OBD it will be a different ball game.

I'm not sure how many know this, but this product was developed by one of the early boundary pushers of the N54 platform. Dzenno was his forum name and if you've been around awhile you have undoubtedly followed some of his posts. I think its great to see "one of our own" rise up and go from forum enthusiast, to established pro tuner, to developing his own flashing application and platform that's competing with the big boys.

I honestly feel like he has a leg up on most of the other tuners given his experience with the N54/55.

    Very good post.

OBD-II unlocked is the grail as we all know. Once the ECU is unlocked though you can do all kinds of cool stuff that previously was not possible.

Calling it Cobb-esque is quite the compliment I think.

BMW must have hired the NSA to encrypt their ECU's! Insane that till this day no one can flash via OBDII.
