2019 mid-engine C8 Corvette expected to have 7-speed dual clutch and twin turbo V8
That mid-engine 'Emperor' Corvette everyone is talking about is shaping up to meet the hype. The one thing the Americans do not have that the Europeans do is a proliferation of dual clutch transmission options. That is slowly changing with the upcoming Ford GT and it seems the new mid-engine Corvette will also offer a dual clutch transmission.
If it indeed has a 7-speed DCT along with a twin turbo V8 the performance is going to be incredible. Honestly, it should have Ferrari and McLaren worried. Imagine Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 650S topping performance at a fraction of the price.
The transmission will likely come from Tremec's TR-9007 family of dual clutch transmissions. Tremec documents put the transmission capability at 9000 rpm and 664 lb-ft of torque.
None of this is confirmed but it sure seems likely and if so the C8 is going to be a world beater.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

If Chevy did that you'd have the best super car layout for the price. Even if it comes in at 150k you'll still be beating out the competition.
a dct Chevy n/a would be insane. But TT v8 dct.... Just the power/performance/grip.
My only concern is the long term reviews on it. The z51 long terms are not that great.

GM is smart to do this right now, Ford went halo-car with the GT and sure, sold out, made money but GM is going to clean-up with this mid-engine vette.

Stop comparing all these cars to Ferrari. They are not the standard anymore.
We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Ferrari not the standard for mid engine performance? Wat?
IF Chevy builds the aforementioned car, they'd have to royally $#@! up to not end up with the best sports car value on earth (maybe in history if they keep the price reasonable). Mid engine + LS + boost + dual clutch.

What will it cost is the main question. If they can keep it under $150k, win.

Im looking forward to the car. Idk about calling it a Corvette tho.
Completely changing the layout of a car and calling it the same thing just doesn't seem right to me. Maybe bring back the Fiero name as a Chevy? lol JK.
But maybe use something like the Aerovette concept name? Or something completely new?

It will be a Corvette. Corvette Racing will be racing a GTE version of this car at Le Mans.
Ford absolutely dominated the race this year with their mid-engine homologation special. Corvette Racing does not like to lose, let alone lose like they did.
