Sport Auto gets 7:34 Nurburgring laptime for 2017 Porsche 911 (991.2) Carrera S in their Nordschleife Supertest

A 7 minute and 34 second laptime around the Nurburgring Nordschleife is incredibly quick. What makes this even more impressive is that it is not a factory time and the car is not a ringer with some different ECU tune. Sport Auto in Germany got this time during their own Supertest.

The new 991.2 Carrera S is obviously going to be quicker than the car it replaces but this is a spectacular result. Look at some of these other Sport Auto times for context:

    7:33 - Porsche 997.2 GT3
    7:34 - Koenigsegg CCR
    7:34 - Nissan GTR
    7:35 - Ruf RT12
    7:38 - Lexus LFA
    7:38 - C6 Corvette ZR1
    7:38 - Gallardo LP570 Superleggera
    7:38 - Ferrari 458 Italia
    7:39 - Ferrari F430 Scuderia

Impressive company and impressive performance especially for 'only' 420 horsepower. The 911 remains one of the most efficient sports cars in the world.

Not by Sport Auto. The point was independently conducted tests and not factory ringers.

Do you know if all of those times were done by the same driver?

Sport Auto usually uses Horst von Saurma. He did all of those runs I believe but not this new 991.2 Carrera S time.

Regardless, it's nice to see magazine times vs. factory times and using the same source for context. Somehow the GTR doesn't do its miracle times when people other than Nissan run it for example.

Impressive. I remember reading in 991.2 press release the S does 7:34 around the ring. Didn't really believe it, but now Sport Auto backed up that time.

Actually BMW's M4 GTS is significantly quicker at 7:28. It's important to note that is not a Sport Auto time but a BMW time: http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...nburgring-7-28

991.2 time is a lot more impressive, done without all that aero and on inferior tires. Kinda crazy that your run-of-a-mill 911 S can run that time.

Yes and also because it's not a factory time. I'm sure if Walter Rohrl got a crack at it or they set it up specifically for Nurburgring runs we would see one of the fast Porsche times.

The Nurburgring is a huge track. Minor changes add up over 7 plus minutes.

Just remembered end of last year the ring got some resurfacing done in many areas. I wonder how that has been affecting all the new times.
