760 rwhp and 816 lb-ft for F10 M5 S63TU with the Pure Turbos Stage 1 turbo upgrade with JB4 + flash combo tuning

Just as in the BMW N54 world we are starting to see more piggyback and flash combinations on the S63TU platform. This F10 M5 is benefiting from such a tuning setup and it shows in its very strong 760 rear wheel horsepower and 816 lb-ft of torque at the wheels dyno pull.

Here are the mods on the car:

    Flash + JB4 S2/BCM
    AMS downpipes
    RPI Exhaust
    MSR Intakes
    BMS Meth
    Upgraded Clutch packs
    Pure S1 Turbo upgrade

Now we would like to know who is doing the flash tuning. Additionally, there are still some issues to work out regarding misfires up top so the tuning is not yet perfect. Tuning for upgraded turbos is going to evolve over time but this is already a very good sign for the S63TU.

It is also important to note the meth injection here as the S63TU fuel system needs the methanol support at these levels and owners would be wise to use it until direct injection fuel system upgrades are available and commonplace on the platform.

Spectacular numbers regardless that should get even stronger over time. More details from the owner below:

Headed back to the dyno today down at EAS and strapped her on to try a few more things. Had Terry helping me online, so we were able to try several things out.

Had some misfires at the higher boost levels (28-29psi) which could be attribued to spark plugs (so need to figure that out). Anyways, car keeps making reasonable power.

A consistent map yields 740-750whp and 790-800 ft-lbs torque. A more aggressive map gets a solid 760whp and 820+ ft-lbs torque, but not very nice things happen after 5.5K... hence need to ramp boost down after 5.5K. Will try another set of plugs and will try an even more aggressive gap this time.

I will post the plot later, but the torque curve is NUTS its at 790-800 ft-lbs torque from 2.7K to nearly 5K. HP peaks in the 4K to 6.5K range. If we can fix the misfire up-top, I think it can start approaching 800whp and sustain top-end power longer in the RPM curve.

The turbos have been swapped to Pure S1 turbos. Their design (stock turbines) seem very capable of holding 30+psi to redline... just that the car doesn't really like it for some reason, so need to problem-solve.

What we knew it was capable of all along. Lets hope the S63 isn't the next N55 when it comes to these tuning issues. Nice work all around

Pretty sure this is running the MSR Flash Tune, same one the previous WR S63 was running (Frozen Cashmere Individual M5 here on the East Coast). More interested to see if Xona Rotor releases something for the S63, since they've already upgraded the S55 turbos.

By adjusting boost to not go above boost target. This is the "secret" that every tuner has spent countless hours to discover, it took me a couple of logs to realize that lol... For instance, simon motor sport wants 5500€ for a TUNE!!!
Allmotor and another guy had a flash + JB4, so we quickly fixed it by the JB4.

So you fixed it through the JB4 and not through a flash?

Yes when people has flash + JB4 combo, otherwise through flash.

No problem! JB4 is good for stock flash to maybe 21-22 psi on pumpgas, but that's pushing it

Ah, I see. So if you want to go higher you may run into issues.

The thing is haven't some upgraded turbo guys gone JB4 only and over 22 psi? So shouldn't they run into misfires?

I guess flash+jb4 is the way to go past that kind of boost?

    This is the guy!

You can run flash only to whatever boost you like, I personally use the JB4 (nice tool) as a logging tool as Jerry said. He said tuners were tuning in blind, he was right. It is much easier to see what is going on, this engine is very tough to tune on, the N54 for instance is seriously nothing compared to this.

Why is the JB4 limited in boost but flash isn't?

Not in boost, you will need to adjust fuel and maybe lower timing on the flash side. The JB4 is not a boost isolated system as the JB4 for the N54 is Click here to enlarge

Remember, to do all this, you need the JB4 + BCM!

lol no problem, boost control module. The JB4 alone can only boost up to a certain limit, with the BCM you have full control over wastegates.

Ok so you get the BCM but then you can have misfires right?

The S63TU sounds like a pain in the ass.
