MotorTrend 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S test figures show 3691 pound curb weight and 11.6 @ 124.2 1/4 mile
The AMG GT S comes in a bit heavier than one would expect in independent testing but considering the twin turbo M178 V8 and dual clutch transmission we can live with that. Especially since it results in excellent 47% front to 53% back weight distribution thanks partially due to the dual clutch transaxle design.
3691 pounds is also lighter than the ~4000 pounds the W205 C63 AMG S is pushing although that is partially due to the panoramic roof option. Still, the AMG GT S offers excellent balance considering the twin turbo V8 front engine layout.
This balance pays dividends on skidpad where the car records an spectacular 1.09g. The 60-0 braking figure is also impressive taking only 100 feet. Simply outstanding handling and braking figures.
Now to the acceleration numbers. 0-60 comes is done in 3.5 seconds. The 1/4 mile takes 11.6 seconds and the trap speed is 124.2 miles per hour. Realistic figures considering the summer testing. Compare them to the 11.4 @ 126 Weistec achieved on a California dragstrip.
What these numbers show is that the AMG GT S is a very well rounded high performance sports car. AMG did an excellent job with this platform and the best is yet to come in the form of a Black Series or GT3 model.

Nah there are still lightweight cars. I blame manufacturers wanting to pack tons of electronics in more than any regulators.
No Americans forced BMW to electrify everything or create i-drive or huge LCD screens or anything of that sort.
Did you see the AMG GT S 1.09g skidpad figure? That is higher than a McLaren 650S. This thing grips!BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

The car is amazing to drive more then just the numbers will tell you. The weight is not an issue at all especially with its rear weight distribution you can get on the power very early and aggressively on corner exit and it just shoots out no problem. The E-diff and variable engine mounts help tremendously. Edition 1 cars have the dynamic plus package which is an option on any GT-S but also have a carbon fiber roof and aerodynamic package with bigger fixed wing + front splitter that can not be optioned on the GT-S.

It seems like motortrend agrees multiple reviewers including former racer Randy Pobst say its one of the best cars they have ever driven and it is ultimately given 1st place over the 911 Turbo S and the GTR. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._r_comparison/
Interestingly the 911 turbo S also only trapped 124mph. On the motor trend instagram they were showing high altitude testing when running these cars so not sure where the times were recorded but they all seem a bit low?

Yes its been blazing the last couple days even here in NY my cousin sent me pictures of his thermostat reading 113 degrees in Arizona -__-.
The GT-S seems to be getting universal praise as a great drivers car it really is a great package its a blast but have not really had a chance to beat the tits off it yet since its still under 300 miles.

Precisely ;-). I have enough excuses to borrow it for every weekend in the next 2 years LOL I have put on ~90% of the 300 miles on it so far I told him it's not good to let the break in service go to long and it's healthier for the car to get it done ASAP . It resembles nothing from the MB lineup ever besides maybe the SLS Black Series car is super sharp and responsive AMG went to town on this

If my dad picked one up the break in would have taken place on the way to Vegas.
