Road and Track gets their hands on the 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari - [email protected] 1/4 mile, 3485 pounds curb weight

Well, the last of the three major American magazines finally got their turn with the LaFerrari. Car and Driver got their turn back in April of this year as did MotorTrend. Road and Track now is finally able to get into the mix but they of course just like the others had to fly to Maranello to do testing on Ferrari's terms.

To us that means we are basically getting controlled figures and we do not know if we can trust them. MotorTrend weighed the car at 3495 pounds. Car and Driver at 3489 pounds. Road and Track got 3485. Very uniform, very even, and very questionable. Especially considering the rumor is Ferrari is not allowing anyone to publish independent weight testing figures. They also are not letting anyone test outside of Maranello. This would be funny if it was not so sad.

The acceleration figures from the hybrid Ferrari supercar are spectacular. 0-100 comes in 4.7 seconds which is what used to be considered a quick 0-60 sprint and the 1/4 mile flashes by in 9.7 seconds at 149.2 miles per hour. Pretty much exactly spot on as to what we saw from the other two.

Which means, what does this test really tell us? Road and Track claims they were the only ones to attach a 'VBOX' to the car. Now you know how they are getting their test figures. So how did Car and Driver and MotorTrend get their numbers? Did they just have Ferrari pencil them in for them?

When the CEO flies in during the middle of the test in a helicopter and everyone noticeably 'stiffens' you realize this isn't an independent test. You know there is more at work here. This is not real testing any longer. This is a Ferrari Press Release.
