Fabspeed releases their BMW F22 M235i (and F30/F32) Valvetronic exhaust system with catted and non-catted downpipe options - Dyno
Fabpseed released their Valvetronic Performance Exhaust System for the BMW F22 M235i which also is available for the BMW F30 335i and the F32 435i. These models are all obviously using the BMW N55 3.0 inline-6 single turbo motor. Let's take a look at the Fabspeed system.
They offer an integrated 200 cell in their sport downpipe which is designed for street use. They also have a cat bypass option which is essentially another way to say catless downpipe.
Take look at the dyno results for the full system on an F22 M235i. With the catless downpipe the system adds 12.68 peak horsepower at the wheels and 28.66 lb-ft of peak torque at the wheels. All on the stock N55 engine tune.
The peak numbers do not tell the story here. Look at the catless graph at roughly 3000 rpm. The gains are 24 wheel horsepower and 42 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. The system offers gains throughout the entire curve but really makes a substantial difference down low in the rev range.
The exhaust system is $2895.00 and then the downpipes are an additional $1195 for the catted version and $595 for the catless version. You can decide on your own if that is fair pricing.
Looking at the graphs, the gains mostly come from the downpipe which is no surprise. Going catless offers more power but the difference is not huge. At least on the stock tune.

For what Fabspeed charges they really should hire a better welder. I have seen a few examples of their exhaust on other cars and while they work they look like it was done by a high school kid in shop class.

WTF... Pricing is completely out of control. It's a single piped exhaust. Are you kidding me? It's not even a real M car, but Fabspeed thinks they can add the M tax because it's got an M badge. Does anyone realize that it's just a 235i? There is literally no 235i model, there is only the "M235i".
Fabspeed used to be a cheaper alternative and all the high end companies started charging a boat load so they saw dollar signs. This is a joke. I won't be supporting any companies that price gouge.
Edit: and people wonder why companies like VRSF are so popular.

Well in all fairness they probably realize it isn't an M car as this exhaust fits the 435i and 335i.
There's truth here.
Because many of the kids with these cars parents are leasing for them don't have a high enough allowance for quality car parts?

Ha, that actually got a good laugh out of me. You know that is probably completely true, but I can't help but look at the short single piped catless downpipe from Fabspeed that they're charging $600 for... Look at AR's N54 downpipes that are drastically longer and there are 2 of them and they're not much more. It's just f*cking silly. And AR's quality definitely surpasses Fabspeed.
I just can't get passed their outrageous jump in prices. Really, $600 for a downpipe that a monkey could have designed that uses a fraction of the material of most components... This kind of stuff really rubs me the wrong way. I'll never buy a Fabspeed product for as long as I live.
I wish Strömung was more popular so they could support the newer bimmers. Their American made, extremely affordable exhaust are very nice quality and sound great. Their E92 M3 Axel-back setup is only $1100. They were extremely popular among E36 M3 owners for having the best sounding exhaust.Prototype 2007 Monaco E83 'X3M' | N54 Swap | Dual Cone Intake | VRSF CP & DPs | CXR Intercooler | ER Dual Oil Coolers | Dual 2.5" w/X-Pipe | M3 Rear Exhaust | 20" BC Forged HB05 | Michelin PSS 265 & 305 | F10 M5 & F80 M3 Brakes | KW Variant 2 | H&R Swaybars | TMS Z4M Camber Arms | Z4 Finned Diff | BMW Perf. If you're ever bored and want to try something new, they have gorgeous 89mm dual wall "resonated" tips. But they're a low volume product, so hand-built to order and it will probably take a few weeks. Understeer.com used to order a bunch of e36 m3 exhausts at once and stock them because they were popular and easy to sell a while back, but I doubt there's any inventory anywhere of the E92 M3 exhausts. They were somewhat popular with the Z4M crowd too. The bigger problem is finding a video of an E92 M3 just so you can hear it. I don't think I've seen one.
The owner Scott is also a great guy. Since they're built to order, and I use an E92 M3 rear muffler but custom piping on my X3, he offered to build me the M3 mufflers with V-band flanges and no axel back piping to save me money and having to cut the piping off anyway. I wish he'd go after BMW again. Hell, he could charge 3 times more and be just like Fabspeed...Prototype 2007 Monaco E83 'X3M' | N54 Swap | Dual Cone Intake | VRSF CP & DPs | CXR Intercooler | ER Dual Oil Coolers | Dual 2.5" w/X-Pipe | M3 Rear Exhaust | 20" BC Forged HB05 | Michelin PSS 265 & 305 | F10 M5 & F80 M3 Brakes | KW Variant 2 | H&R Swaybars | TMS Z4M Camber Arms | Z4 Finned Diff | BMW Perf. Sorry O/T, but continuing my shameless plug for an E92 M3 exhaust (I just really like their exhausts and the company), but the only installed E92 M3 image I could find, wish I could find a video..
