Flashing the MSD80/MSD81 back to stock using WINKFP

Still haven't found a good tutorial on how to do this and was wondering if someone could shed some light on the proper way to do it.

Something along the lines of this:

    http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...rs-after-flash

I know that there is going to be some variations between IJE0S(MSD81),
    I8A0S(MSD80), and ILA0S(MSD81, 335is
). There are also different ZB versions from the dealer for wastegate rattle fixes and whatnot but a general outline would be a big help for a lot of people.

Another thing is that Ken (Wedge) also checked how many times my car was flashed which I can't remember how to do. I was having a VIN mismatch issue because I was using the BMS backend with their car's VIN attached instead of building off my stock bin.

    Thanks!

best way is to leave the winkfp decide which file to use as long as you have the latest SP-Daten files. It simple and workout for me, do the following:
    - run winkfp
    - comfort mode (F1)
    - update ZUSB (F3)
    - choose MSD80/81 (btw even if you dont know which one you have the software will choose the correct one)
    - VIN (F4)
    - Done (F8)
    - Program (F3)
    - click ok and wait it should take around 30 to 45 min (mine is K-line so i assume its natural slow and need battery charger for any flash)

not sure where to read number of flashes but i know if you go to configuration in winkfp and unchecked UIF options it wont show how many times it was flashed.

one last note i dont recommend to use above method if BMS flash already in place. first you need to flash ECU with original stock bin which will leave it either in working or recovery mode. At this stage I would go ahead and do the above steps.

Awesome!! Thank you for the prompt and in depth reply. When putting the ecu into recovery with Wedge, he had me pull the cable before it started writing but I think your method is a better bet.

Ok so a little problem. When trying to update with the BB software back to the stock .org file, I keep getting an authentication error.

When trying to use Winkfp, the fields are blank after I hit comfort mode and select Update ZUSB.

Any idea what could be causing this? The car is an 07 335xi I8A0S K-Line

I have been messing around with this, in fact a fellow member was kind enough to send me his stock bin, which I used through the BB Software to flash back to stock. It worked, admittedly i did run into a few difficulties at first such as incomplete writes and authentication errors, but it did work out in the end after about 3-4 tries.

its normal for 2007 cars (K-line) do normal trouble shooting, disconnecting cable, restarting computer and car, battery charger connected and last trick is for force write then normal write. Cannot remember in which forum i read it but they state for 2007 cars voltage should not drop below 10V during flash. if its happen then the communication will shut down between computer and ECU. also i would recommend to remove HPFP fuse so it wont interfere with flashing process.

for winkfp not sure whats happen as the files displayed from data you imported to winkfp from your computer nothing to do with the car. Try to run it without connecting any kind of cables, if its still not showing any modules then you need to import SP-daten files again (like installing for first time).

Tried force write, cars in map 0, battery is on a charger even though its new. First time I've had this happen in the many cars I've flashed with the BB program. Im downloading the daten files now and going to try importing the files again like @Oilphase recommended just to be certain it isn't that. I flashed an Alpina flash on someone elses car a couple days ago with no issues and now this... Very odd that all of the columns are empty in WinKFP but I'm hoping the file associations in the program got skewed or something along those lines for a simple fix.

Not sure why he is getting an authentication error on the BB program though and another thing that is odd is that the program is showing that the car has an I7A0S flash or something along that line when I'm sure its not because I put the I8A0S flash on initially with no issue.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

Another quick question. I downloaded the v53 daten files for every chassis and was wondering when using BMW tool if I should select each individual chassis and update or if I can select the entire SP daten folder with the e89, e46, e36 and so on daten files and do it all at once. Tried searching around and couldn't find any info on it.
