2015 Porsche 911 (991) GT3 test figures - 0-60 in 3.1, 3267 pound curb weight, and 1.11g on the skidpad
Thanks to MotorTrend we finally have some concrete data on the new 2015 Porsche 911 GT3. It took a while as 991 GT3's were sidelined in order for Porsche to fix the engine fire issue. With that all sorted out we now get to see the 911 GT3 do what it was designed to do, be a badass performance car.
The GT3 may not be quite as hardcore now that it does not have the manual transmission but it is hard to argue with the performance the PDK brings. How about 0-60 in 3.1 seconds? The 1/4 mile is blazed in 11.3 seconds at 122.9 mile per hour. Incredible numbers from a naturally aspirated 3.8 liter flat-6.
Yes, very impressive and the new 991 GT3 is indeed quicker, faster, and better handling than even the vaunted 997 GT3 RS 4.0. Imagine what the 991 GT3 RS will bring to the table if the standard 991 GT3 is easily trumping the most powerful GT3 and hardcore GT3 ever produced.
As far as a the skidpad figures the 991 GT3 pulls an incredible 1.11g. The car is freakishly sticky and that is what it should be considering its track focus. To put the number in context the C7 Z06 managed a 1.19g.
The numbers can only tell you so much, what about the subjective points? Randy Pobst stated, “The turn-in is so accurate. Could be the best I’ve ever felt in a 911. The rear will let go in the middle of a corner. It’s drifty; it’s alive. It still has a lot of personality. There’s a lot of race car in this street GT3. It is very much, in many ways, a race car for the street."
If you were worried the PDK would make it less fun to drive you can let that thought go. You also can not argue with how it improves the performance as the laptime on Willow Springs for the GT3 is only behind the 918 Spyder and the Dodge Viper ACR. One is over a million dollars and the other is basically a dedicated race car with a license plate.
The only cars to come out ahead of the GT3 on the MotorTrend figure eight are the C7 Z06 and the 918 Spyder and that's it. Pretty elite company right there.
The GT3 perhaps does more with less than any other car in the world. It is not about raw power but finesse and response. It's a scalpel compared to the sledgehammers everyone else is putting out these days. They just do not make them like this any more and that makes it special no matter what the test numbers are.

God damnit I want one of these more than almost anything else. Automotive bargain of all time...less than 131k and quicker than about anything else you can put a license plate on around a track. Just absolutely amazing.

I mean I don't know if it's a bargain. Is it the most badass 911 out there? I think so.
The Z06 is the better value.

It definitely is not designed to impress you with torque that's for sure. On the track you definitely won't be puttering around!
