I might be making the jump to AP from the JB4 because I have a stage 1 turbo and Terry recommends the back end flash. If I do, I'll be getting a tune from you!

Sounds good man. We've done a couple Stage 1s and Stage 2s so far and they hold boost much better than OEM N55s.

I am relatively new to the platform so apologies if this has been covered before, what gains do you typically see over the OTS cobb stage 1 aggressive on 93 oct?
Are the OTS maps really that bad? ANy dyno comparisons? I have heard a lot of good things about PTF but would be awesome to see a dyno of OTS vs protune.

Not N55, but here is my review of my PTF experience. I highly recommend it.

Awesome! Exactly what I was looking for. And that was even on 91 octane and high altitude. I think Ill pull the trigger on a protune soon.
Too much travel at work at the moment.

Much props to you guys! Just wanted to add one thing, only the RWD N55s have a catless mid-pipe. the XI models retain a smaller cat up front, and use the standard E92 N54 midsection with cats Click here to enlarge. I think there is a way to retrofit the catless midsection onto those cars, but I might be getting confused with the 1series N55 factory midsection upgrade for N54 equipped 135s...

When are you going to be able to tune 2013 and 2014 e8x N55 cars?

When the Cobb Access port can support them. That is out of PTF's control.

To those running a PTF tune on N55 out there: are you also facing issues when driving over 200km/h (125mph), namely getting error codes and limp mode?

Hi @timmy2011, N55 has a speed limiter that can't be removed in the software unfortunately. Having said that for those customers driving at high speeds with OTS maps and our earlier versions of maps we've worked together to find a way to not have any codes come up when the limiter is being approached and hit. The car basically ends up riding at the limiter speed without accelerating further without incurring any potential codes.

If you've got an N55 tune from us please email me at [email protected] and we can log/troubleshoot. Once Cobb releases the speed limiter removal we'll have that update available to anyone interested.

    Hi Dzenno,
I am talking about 'euro' version where the speed limiter is 250km/h, the errors occur at around 200km/h so rather below the limit of 250km/h, the US version might have a lower limit, I am not sure (135 mph?).
I ve sent you the logs on Friday (335iX with Michelin A5 snow tires now) I made in Germany.

No speed limiter removal? I'm kind of shocked considering how long the N55 has been out.

I hit 145mph (indicated on my dash) the other week and I didn't hit any limiter...I know the indicated speed reads like 5-6% high but even so 145 -6% is 136+mph...
I didn't verify with gps and now its way to snowy to retest but are we sure that all N55's have the 135 limiter? I have a 2011 rwd 335 with 6mt if it makes any difference. No sport package or extra oil cooler either...

I hit a verified 223kmh (~140mph) at an airport event in April, no issues.
    I was running a PTF e30 tune.

Thank you Nugs, I am running a PTF tune with 98 oktan ("super plus" here in Europe), the P36CA error doesn't come everytime I go over 200km/h, I could reach 220-230, slow down, go up to 200 again, and sometimes, bam it hits, which made the logging not trivial.
(no engine mods on the car, except for an aluminum CP and the alpina flash on my auto trans).

The non M-sport models are limited to 137 in the states and the M-sport models will go 155.

has anyone used this tune as a backend flash to stack on top of their jb?

i have a vargas stage 2 going in and I don't know who to go with for a back end flash. Any input is appreciated.

That code is transmission related, I've had it come up at much lower speeds when accelerating under WOT. I believe it was related to torque calculation errors. I think it may have something to do with the load to torque limit table, the stg 2 maps have the last row in that table altered. My guess is that the car is making more torque than the TCU expects and it doesn't like it.
