I'm also wondering if the people that are having the problem are the ones that are pulling the trans and block together off of the bell bolts? and i never got an answer back on what they were setting the TQ to on the pressure plat to flywheel bolts as to why they are breaking and stretching?

Someone said they called and they toled them 24-26 ftlbs, I tried 22 ft lbs with nice even tq in steps, and one snapped on me, pulled another one out put it in a blind hole and it popped the wrench easily. I just about all new bolts, and set them all to 18 ft lbs with blue loc tite, no issues

i did this one to 16 ftlbs i'm wondering if the 24 to 26 is in NM and they did not transfer that info to ftlbs i have seen stranger things. with as small as the pressure plate bolts are i don't think i would have ever tried anything over 20ftlbs

They are 6mm right? 24-26ftlb is way too much. This is the only twin disk Ive seen with 6mm pp bolts. I wonder why so small? Should be 8mm @22ftlb and problem solved.

I had higher hopes for this twin disc due to the collab w/ PTF, but these issues are far too similar to other problems Spec has on other platforms =(
Hopefully Motiv and Spec can get it worked out with the feedback and input from the early adopters.

when I installed mine, I used the higher TOB setting, had to draw the trans back on the last 1/2" with the trans bolts, was told by David at Spec to torque the pressure plate bolts to 12-15lbs*ft, have great pedal engagement height, ZERO issues with shifting, but have chatter/rattling under load while accelerating.
Anyone know what would cause chatter/rattling while accelerating? Is that normal for this setup?

They told me to... I heard anytime you're screwing into aluminum you should use Loctite(thread lock).

After reading this thread. I guess I'm 100% pulling the tranny and changing the TOB to the high setting....I did take out the stock clutch stop and the extra 1/8 inch stopped the car from dragging.....but at times its a little hard to get into 1st or reverse. Also clutch engages about 0.01 inches off the floor.
Thanks for everyones input. I guess it's better to learn from this then to not learn at all. Will report back with the new findings on the high setting.

Once you put on loctite don't you want to use the wet tq value and not the dry right? Does spec recommend loctite and if so what type and what are the wet and dry values?

10-12lb with RED LocTite according the Spec.
Jake @ Motiv worked with Spec not PTF, Jake was at PTF before Motiv. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
I believe my Flywheel is Aluminum

I really don't know who or what company worked with spec but I know when I called them they said the clutch could only be purchased through PTF. I know both companies now sell them.
I was basically poking fun as I doubt spec needed PTF to help design the clutches. Spec said they were releasing the clutch long before PTF/Motiv got involved. Spec knows exactly what compounds need to go on their clutches etc. All I can think is they purchased the exclusive rights to sell it for X amount of time buy placing a stocking order of X number of units.
