    Leaky diff

Got got an oil change today and the kid said there was a sweat on the diff. He took my phone and got a pic (no customers allowed downstairs). I know it's a terrible picture but is this something to really worry about? Or can I take my time (within a month) to get it repaired? I'm no tech but looks like the pinion seal to me...

As long as there is a good amount of oil in the diff, you won't damage the gears or bearings by driving. It does look pretty wet but it might not be leaking that bad (oil's not pouring out or dripping) so I'd say it's been leaking for a while already. Definitely get it repaired but I wouldn't lose any sleep on it. Did the tech check the diff oil level while he was there?

We just did this for another E90 last week. It's the pinion seal, and shouldn't be done by a novice, due to pinion turning torque settings.

the amount that has come out is so small, it won't need a top off.
