Not sure how it went, hoping we get details. Car looks like it means business though:

Event kinda sucked. I got kicked off the track for having too loud of pipes. Track has a 92db limit and my car hit 104db. It was three strikes and you're out, I got 1 strike on Saturday during autocross and then parked the car in the trailer so I could save my last two strikes for Sunday. First time out Sunday I got strike 2 on a warm up lap and then parked it and then got my last strike in my 2nd road course session. I clearly had the fastest car out there, the Audi R8 V10 Camera Pace car driven by a pro driver could not even keep up with me when I dropped the pedal. Weistec has some video they will be posting and the event was filmed and will be o TV at some point. I could have won this event but the California tree hugger politics got in the way of me being able to go out and run 100%.....complete bull$#@! event

Not even sure how I finished, I was kicked out in the morning, packed up my rig and left. By the time I left I was in 6th place overall(out of more than 50), not too bad I guess considering I ranjust two autocross passes and two braking zone passes before recieving my warnings on Saturday and only 11 laps on the road course(including warm up and cool down laps) on Sunday

LOL what's the point of being on a track then?

Hey hold up not every track or event in California is like this. There are decibel limits on tracks outside of California too but I agree this is complete BS.

Trust me, this is a California tree hugger thing, I got the entire story from track officials. Laguna Seca will not be around long let's just put it that way.

I'm guessing people in the area are putting pressure on the track due to noise. Why did they move next to a famous race track?

Do people who move next to an airport expect it to move?

No, but, if you've ever flown out of John Wayne SNA or into John Wayne, you'll notice the jet will actually cut power over the residential zone. So they put everyone at risk in the plane because of residential noise..... LOL

You live that close to me eh? I use to have a loft at Harbor Lofts and they had triple pane glass on my forward facing balcony. I lived about 2 miles away from the fireworks, it loses its luster after the first week.

I cant believe there is a db limit at a race track...

    Maybe?

The fireworks are annoying but I deal with it. I certainly don't expect Disneyland to move. Just as I wouldn't expect a race track to move.

They have been trying to close down Laguna Seca for a long time now...all because the local residents have such deep pockets. It's actually owned by the state and is part of the CA Park system. There are quite a few events that do not have noise restrictions, apparently this was not one of them and I believe that was because this event is for street cars. And as we all know, longs tubes are only for race cars LOL. There's a lot of bull$#@! laws and rules we have to put up with to live here, but man it sure is nice here when 99% of the rest of the country is under a foot of snow.

A bunch of wealthy people in that area. Seriously deep pockets is right and they like getting their way. How are you supposed to sip Bordeaux and check your stock portfolio when you hear a V8 exhaust burble in the distance on a historic race track you moved next to?

Umm, Laguna Seca 92 db sound restriction has been effect for a long time. The track isn't going anywhere.

Exactly. Every year there is a story, Laguna Seca might shut down. There is a very small group of home owners that started Hwy 68 Coalition. They have been trying for years to lower the sound restrictions, what they really want is it to close.

But it won't. It is on State land and one of the most historical tracks in the US. It brings in a lot of money for the area. Money will always win over some whiny ass home owners.

Agreed - but many of them have lived there for years and have roots in the community. It's not just the noise, it's also the crowds that the place brings - Moto GP weekend there are about 300k fans and all the ancillary problems that go with that many people in one place. Great for the local businesses, but the myopic views of the wealthy residents doesn't include seeing the restaurants, hotels and shops succeed. It's a shame really, but much of the blame should be placed on the Sports Car Association of the Monterey Peninsula who have greatly mismanaged the track. But I wouldn't expect anything else from a "nonprofit" organization...

That's part of the allure IMO. Would I upset if I lived in Huntington Beach about the Grand Prix? No freaking way.

Why are whiny people with money allowed so much power? $#@! them. If they don't like it they should move.

You're right. It would be nice to be one of the people with money for preserving the track though and going against them. You know what, the lawyers just win at the end of the day anyway.

It goes back to some story about the moron that started Highway 68 Coalition. If I remember correctly sometime in the late 70's his brother was killed on Highway 68 chasing after his dog, because it was spooked by some loud car leaving the track. Hence the name Highway 68 Coalition.

He knows he can't bring his brother back to life, right? Even if cars are legislated out of existence?
