    MK6 GTI 3.2L single turbo 4WD conversion (HPA 495)

    not sure where would be the best sub-forum to post this but here it goes.

    I've placed order for this kit last year, but due to logistic and other import related issues, part of the kit had finally arrived Beijing.
    still awaiting the engine and the trans to arrive, one good piece of news is that these missing parts had arrived at the ports of China and are on their way to Beijing.

    this build is a conversion from a FWD 2.0L turbo MK6 GTI to a 4WD 3.2L single turbo with a HPA 495 kit.

    below pics are what we've received for the time being.

    i wish lol
    HPA advertise their 495 kit at 495BHP, but with the best pump gas here in BJ is 95 (same as Europe's 95 or about 93 in the US) i'd be very happy with 400AWHP on pump gas and hopefully 430AWHP with some kind of meth or alcohol injection.

    Copied the specs from HPA site below, but for my application, the 3.2L VR6 engine, the 4motion drivetrain system as well as a built DSG trans are also needed for the conversion. and i made not need their 100C cat because i dont mind the smell of gasoline.

    So let me get this straight.

    You're taking your 2.0TSI FWD GTI and converting it to a 4WD with a 3.2 VR6 then adding HPA's turbo system on it?

    That is one hell of a crazy build, not to mention really expensive, more power to you on that. However, I have to ask, why not just go with a custom turbo set up on the TSI? If I recall correctly your country should have access to after market HPFP so hitting 450WHP+ on a GTX30 or equivalent shouldn't be that hard. I know someone state side hit 470WHP with 93oct and meth on a smaller precision with the stock HPFP, unitronic injectors and LPFP

    I know the VR6 has a lot of potential, but for that targeted number you could have saved a few grand and stuck with the TSI

    Also, what transmission?

    yes you are correct, but this build isnt about reaching a set power goal. I've owned an supercharged E46 M3 with close to 500WHP so getting 400+WHP wasnt that big of a deal to me anymore.
    after 2 years of ownership of the FWD GTI, i just wanted something that drives and feels like i've step into a totally different car and hopefully this build can deliver exactly that. with the HPA conversion, and the idea of getting a bigger displacement engine and 4WD system for the GTI was much more appealing.

    I mean personally I love the mk6 GTI, so I can see sticking with it. it's a nice body style and let's be honest how awesome is having a hatch and a car that 2 adults can comfortably fit in the back seat?


    Also, i went through some of your post, looks like you're on the DSG? What are your plans for tuning and are you planning on using the stock clutch packs?

    I really hope you take a ton of pictures for this, very unique build and to my knowledge no one has dumped a 3.2 into an mk6, let alone did the AWD conversion

    Thanks for the kind words. Yeah my GTI has DSG and is the only option available in China; from what I know a ready built DSG tran will be use for the conversion, but that's pretty much all i know for the time being. I am just a guy who provides the fund but will sure find out more along the way with photo updates.

    I just saw your post as I was searching for AWD conversion for my GTI too and I saw you are also based in Beijing!

    How's the project going? It's really a nice project,I look forward to hear more about it. I have a friend, also in Beijing who just finished his AWD for a Scirroco (from Golf R), I can put you in contact if you encounter some problems on the way.
