    TunerPro newbie question

So I have loaded a BIN, I opened an XDF file, all looks good, whats next?

Is it just "Write BIN" and thats it or do I need some additional steps to "apply" the XDF loaded to the BIN?

I will use my max rep power to anyone who answers this and/or writes a simple TunerPro For Dummies thread here Click here to enlarge

In case someone else does not jump in you can check out:

    Steps 5 - 7 should be helpful.

I know, I know, we don't really want to drive traffic there, but they are pretty good instructions.

The XDF is what tells tuner pro where to find the tables in the bin. The bin is just hex, the XDF is the road map.

Can you outline specifically what you are trying to do? Are you trying to create your own tune or run one of the Vishnu maps?

Well Shiv tells ppl to use the "script" link in the TunerPro, but I tried to patch an already patched bin (Terrys) and then all choices are greyed out, I assume this is still doable since the XDF changes are visible in the BIN.

Are you trying to modify Terry's back end flash to be used in a car without a JB4? That doesn't seem like a good idea imo. I would start from scratch with a stock bin.

Can you elaborate on what you are trying to accomplish?

Terry actually hinted that it was a good idea since he has some stuff in that map that would "improve" upon Shivs, I will try to use a stock BIN as well. BUT my question was more generic, how does TunerPro work, I didnt find any "get started" instructions but only rather really advanced stuff...

Not sure if this will help you at all but this will help you see the differences between the maps and make changes accordingly.

I am trying to remember how you commit your changes to the bin to be able to write the file, its been a few weeks since i played with it. I would try the "write bin" you mentioned, save the bin, reopen in tuner pro, apply the XDF and look to make sure the changes you made were saved.

I just tried to patch Terry's Race Gas IJEOS map in tuner pro with the OTS stage1 XDF file.

The menu allowed me to "apply" the supposed stage1.xdf, but looks like nothing changed.
I compared the main timing table values which are very different in the stage1 flash versus Terry's and the timing values did not change at all.

It's as if TunerPro recognizes that a bin has already been patched and won't let you apply another patch. Instead you have to manually edit the tables in the JB4 bin. Seems like you can't patch an already patched bin.

I've not used those patching functions much. I may have inadvertently blocked them somehow although I'm not sure through what mechanism that would take place. In our XDF files there are no patching options.

Just looks like TunerPro recognizes that a file has already been modified I guess.

Its worth noting, the XDF also contains the patches, not only the locations and names of the tables. Open the XDF with notepad++ and look at the bottom.

Maybe you could "invite" the creators of TunerPro to do an article/introduction to TP?

That sounds nice on paper but doubt they will have the time or interest.
