How much is a reubilt motor worth?

Every time I'm at the junk yard I see tons of M5x motors. I always think to myself that I should pull one out and rebuild it and sell it. How much would you guys say a short block rebuilt to stock spec is worth? 2.5 vs 2.8? Just an idea I had, so I figured I'd ask.

A 2.8 to stock spec? Maybe 2500 if you are lucky. They go for about what 600-800 used?

For a bottom end about 600-800. The OP could maybe get 1500-2k now that I have looked into it more.

Bottom end is $75-100 depending on what yard I go to. 1500 seems like a lot. I'm going to look into how much it's going to cost me in materials to rebuild.
