Does anyone have logs from when their wastegate(s) were dying?

This question will be answered once my vargas turbos go in, but I'd just like to see some examples in the mean time to help me figure out if what I'm experiencing is in fact wastegate related or a boost leak. I've had a boost leak before and this feels very different.

Also, i've somewhat recently replaced the boost solenoids and a bunch of the vac lines. The only line i didn't replace was the line going to the front impossible to reach turbo

    Anyone, Bueller? Logs?

You would compare actual boost vs. boost set point. If you are not getting up to set point then you would measure the vacuum in the wastegate line to ensure it's getting the full 23" or so available. If it is then you either have a boost leak or a wastegate issue. If not then you have a tuning or vacuum line issue.

I had a very loose front WG, thus high DC as i have posted before. New turbos now and DC is considerably lower. If I have some time I will post the comparison.

For example I'll floor it under decently high load in say 2nd or 3rd gear - boost builds up slow and of course doesn't hit the target during this time. Shift into the next gear, and it will hit the target and hold there fine (albeit slower than in their prime). I haven't had the time, nor do I forsee myself having the time to really dig deeper and actually test the lines before having the new turbos installed. When they go in any old lines will be replaced of course. In the mean time i'm just curious if others have seen the same symptom when their wastegates got bad.

Normally bad wastegates rattle really bad in any position and fail to build boost. You may just not have enough vacuum at the wastegate actuator either from the tuning end or due to a vacuum line issue. If you care to troubleshoot the first step is to measure vacuum at the wastegate per my previous post. There is a DIY on n54tech with photos of the line you tap to measure it.

Here's a log from my car with really bad wastegate rattle just prior to installing the RB turbos, it's running map5 on the JB4 with a ~35% E85 mix. It was consistently 2-3 psi short of the boost target, some days/runs it would get a little closer to target, but almost all my logs looked like this

the front line is not hard to replace... just follow it with your hand and youll be able to take it off the wastegate. just make sure the engine is cold because you will rub your hand/arm on the engine

I was having extreme wg rattle as well. I had @rick@defiv "massage" my stock secondary cats and now my wg rattle has gone away. Rick stated back pressure will cause this with the vacuum actuated gates.

I had replaced that one, that was easy. It's the other one that I've left, which will be replaced when the new turbos go in

Replacing the lines to the WG isn't too bad if your forearms aren't too hefty. But applying a vacuum will indicate if necessary... shouldn't bleed at all.
