Maximum PSI (Max PSI) S54 / E46 M3 entry level turbo kit tuned on stock ECU/DME nearing completion, 467 wheel horsepower

The E46 M3 turbo market does not have a large amount of competition but that may be changing shortly. Maximum PSI in New Jersey has been working on an entry level turbo kit for almost a year now and is seeing nice results putting down 467.9 wheel horsepower a nice increase from their preliminary 439 wheel horsepower dyno. What is significant here is not the power but the tuning on the stock ECU/DME and the entry level price point.

Tuning is being handled by Technique Tuning whose owner is the only person to have a successful turbo kit for E46's thus far tuned on the stock DME. NickG as he is known has produced kits for M54 based vehicles and is arguably the best tuner to make this S54 kit happen on the stock DME. It is not easy as many tuners have failed attempting to do the same.

Dyno is on 93 octane fuel. Turbo is a Precision 6266CEA.

This is an absolutely incredible development for the S54 market and if NickG and Maximum PSI pull this off, major respect from the BMW tuning community is warranted. Good luck to all involved! Pictures below.

Stock S54 with Maximum PSI bolt on kit, stock compression
    Technique Tuning programmed DME
93 octane fuel(91 octane cal available)
Random Technology high flow catted downpipe or optional catless downpipe

Here is the tentative pricing for the kit:
Catted downpipe with functional OBD2 readiness - $9500 + shipping
Catless downpipe with "off road" cal - $9100 + shipping (will not have CEL, but will not pass OBD2 readiness test)

Smg will add a minimal increase for the necessary reservoir and parts.

Looks like a rip-off at that power level. Thanks for the $10k; now you can run mid-elevens... Click here to enlarge

What do you think a realistic turbo kit price should be? Do you know what the components used in the kit consist of? Have you priced out any supercharger kits?

Umm HPF cars do that with built motor cars. This is stock dme pass inspections, and enjoy kit. With a proven Bmw tuner. Decent e36 turbo kits are 9-15k.

It's putting down about what it should on pump I would think. People have been spoiled by HPF's big numbers but those come at a bigger price.

I expected it a little bit cheaper but this still would be the most affordable turbo kit on the market so not really a rip-off.

I think its fairly priced. A VT2-500 kit is similarly priced but has less power under the curve

maxpsi kit using the 6266 is actually making more power than a hpf stage 1 is on pump using the old 6776.
and an AA stage 2 sc kit cost 12k and that needs meth to make 500rwhp. think about it.. the maxpsi kit is making 30 less rwhp than the aa stage 2 sc kit without meth.

A turbo should be more efficient so this looks fine. Don't understand some of the criticism.

    Mid-elevens is better as:

    60' - 1.920
    330' - 5.304
    1/8 - 8.018
    MPH - 89.99
    1000' - 10.335
    1/4 - 12.282
    MPH - 116.70

Do you remember?Click here to enlarge

If a car were setup with meth injection, considering all the variables involved with the meth system, can anybody guarantee that every time the meth is used, the same exact amount of meth will be sprayed? We all know the answer is NO.

That means your 11.5:1 compression engine, with over 8psi of boost (you'll obviously want to turn up the boost if you're spraying meth), will not be safe. Engine damage can occur due to the inconsistency of that meth system. That is not the target or design guideline for this kit. This kit is designed for 'bolt-on and go', without having to worry if some other system (ie, meth injection) is working to prevent damaging the engine. I've seen PLENTY of forced induction setups that rely on methanol injection result in poor performance, or even damaged engines, because the methanol system wasn't working properly. Heck, we've all seen these threads on the various forums; it's never pretty. This kit is designed to avoid all that.

As it stands, the kit makes 460rwhp at 8psi on 93 octane fuel through the stock exhaust. Now imagine having a custom 3" exhaust installed on it. How much power will it put out then? Then imagine filling up with some 100 or 104 or 109 octane unleaded, and cranking up the boost a few more lbs. How much will it put out then? Both of these additions are more reliable and safe than meth injection, as they don't have jets to clog, pumps to fail, etc.

Rest assured, Mike and I will test these options and make our decisions as to what's safe, and what's not. 460rwhp is just the tip of the iceberg folks.....there is definitely more to come Click here to enlarge

The collaboration of MaximumPSI and NickG is really revolutionizing the S54 tuning scene. I am very sure that this kit will win over the hearts of those who are very close to pulling the trigger on some of the higher end supercharger kits out there.

What I really like about how this kit is designed simply just looking at those power and torque curves. It looks like power delivery and driveability is going to be a TON of fun! $9500 sounds more than fair!

It would have been great though to see OBDII Readiness despite being catless. Not sure how the exhaust side is designed, but what catalytic converter would you be using? Is it a full single mid pipe or dual like stock?

    Great stuff!

That would be flat out illegal, as that is intentionally lying to pass an emissions test. Other companies have been shut down for this type of behavior. I don't plan on being one of them Click here to enlarge

There's some learning in the system that can be taken advantage of when programmed appropriately.

What about being able to hand-held flash separate maps depending on fuel used?
