    JB4 NA Map Log

    Hey guys,

Been playing around with an NA map for the JB4. There are still a couple bugs to work out, but the car is slow and loud as hell. Just like you guys like it. Click here to enlarge

You'll note its running the proper (full) advance for an N54 running zero boost, that the air/fuel ratio is spot on, and that the fuel trims are also properly managed. Which means this NA map can actually be driven on without screwing up all your adaptions.

Here is a log of tonight's testing. This is a 1-2-3 log. Took forever! Click here to enlarge

WOW so you got this N/A working! Great to hear because although Procede has this for a while it is not recommended to be used because of adaptation issues when switching back to regular maps...Its basically there and not there if you know what I mean!

Need to do more testing but noticed 1-2mpg more in unofficial testing. Although, most of that is probably due to the total lack of acceleration. Click here to enlarge

Hey that's awesome...does this mean you can actually now run lower boost than the base flash map dictates?

Only zero boost. Technically we've always been able to run say 65% of what a flash/stock map dictates.

This with an open exhaust flapper sounds like a good time! Hopefully it's like my buddies old mustang, it's sounds like it's hauling when it's not doing much.

This is with CPS right? Why don't you give JB4 owners the ability to advance timing without NA mode if that's the case?

No CPS involved. It's running at 0psi and 20 degrees of advance is what the DME has mapped as an upper limit for 0psi. The key to making an NA map work is having the DME aware it's running zero boost so it only adjusts its fuel trims in the zero boost parts of the fueling map. The while thing is actually extremely simple.

best solutions are always the simplest ones...hard part is figuring out how to do it the best way possible...that's a really solid NA map, perfect actually, as it doesn't mess up adaptations which is sort of a BIG deal Click here to enlarge

Reason I asked is because the Procede NA mode did use CPS or so shiv said. Targeted the same timing as well. Interesting....

what's the point of this map? Is it for worst case scenario, turbos fail and you have a map to get home by?

The point is for us guys that wished BMW continued the 330i! really it's pretty much all for fun, and to really appreciate turbos after driving without them. I'm sure it's helping with the development of the economy map as well.

I tried this out tonight (it was included in some 2-step firmware I'm testing), the car is REALLY slow and pretty loud. I'm running a straight pipe with resonators though, it shouldn't be too bad for those with cats or a muffler.

edit: I had my friend race me with my other car ('88 civic hatchback with a D15, car weighs 1650lbs) and the civic only lost by about a car and a half to 60mph.
