Post SSQV vs Tial vs Synchronic

I'm looking to finally get a charge-pipe for methanol injection and other reasons. I'm having trouble deciding on a Bypass Valve.

I have experience with SSQVs on my 300zx and they are great but still have some flimsy/plastic parts internally, and I wonder if the Synapse could be an improvement.

I don't want compressor surge or fluttering, and I do want the best boost response possible.

I've heard great things about Tial, but it usually is kind of a hard-headed "It's best because it's made in USA and used forever" type of answer.

Synapse is newer in the game, and their engineering articles and video testing leaves me curious.

Which valve would you choose and why? Thanks!

I have a Tial on my car. The reason why I bought it is because I've had used them in my other cars. The quality is top notch, and I like the sound the noise it makes. There are many good BOV's on the market where quality is top notch so it's hard to make a choice. To make my choice I decided to go in a much less technical way, instead of pouring over countless of posts, and pages of data, and looking at the blueprints and what not. I chose tile because they made it in.......blue..

Sounds like it just really comes down to personal preference as they are all good.

Tial because of its design. The SSqV killed my friends rx7 turbo twice...and we had it set to soft.

The design actually creates a pressure spike in the charge pipe before it opens..

Any disadvantage to running a BOV on these cars vs. DV's?

No, it's a MAP sensor. There is no pre and post sensor, like a MAF wire.

Are you sure it was a SSQV? I don't recall having any way to adjust it, it is similar to the Synapse design but with cheaper internals. Greddy Type S you can adjust and they suck.

It was an old school hks ssqv. Back then you could change springs and it had a screw in the back just like the greddy one. The first turbo popped, we had a hybrid ordered, snd it lasted two months before it beat the compressor up.

I switched to a crushed 1G DSM setup and had the turbo redone. Never had a problem again.

SCC mag did an article on all the BOVs at the time, and the HKS one had the worst pressure spike right after throttle closure, and also had the worst pressure release...the pressure loss was a bunch of sharp jagged increases as the air bounced back and forth in the pipe. Greddy type S was right behind it.

The top of the group? Believe it or not, R33 GTR stock BOV....followed by the stock Subaru BOV and the mitsubishi 1G/EVO stock BOV...not the 2G eclipse one because it was made of plastic and identical in design to our own BMW diverters. It frequently cracked, leaked, blew open at 10psi or greater.

I was using 1G/EVO bovs in a lot of project cars for quite sometime. Crush the head a little in a vice, and you get a cheap way to hold more boost without blowing open (15psi+).

Hmmm, I'm thinking either the Tial or Synapse. And the Forge valves are a copy of BMW's part but with metal and any improvements?
