I talked the guy down to 22500 not much I know but he says he can show me the auction receipt and new tire receipt that hes losing money. Car would be bought out right, no financing. Haven't seen the carfax yet but he did tell me that it says it was in an accident with right front damage, that was bumper damage only, paint, fender, hood are original, just bumper repainted. Has clean title still. Has factory oil cooler. Hes taking it in tomorrow for what he called a warning light, not sure what that means. So I scheduled a ppi when he brings it in for the warning light. My plans for the car if I were to buy it for starters would either be a JB4 or Cobb, and then maybe an intercooler and meth kit but that wouldn't be for 3-4 months from now. Is there anything I should look for or check that the dealer wouldn't see? Is there a way i can tell if it has ever had a piggyback? Is the price fair considering it was in a accident even if it was just the bumper? If it has had more than say 2 hpfp should I walk away? Thanks for any and all input!Last edited by bmw335iguy; 07-08-2011 at 06:00 PM. Reason: not enough rep points for link to car

Price seems ok, I would request him to give you a full printout of the car's BMW service history (should be easy if he's taking it to the dealer). The fact that he's disclosing an accident that won't appear on the title is a good sign, but the severity of the accident may be downplayed in the interest of making the sale. Make sure you see the car fax/auto check regardless.

tired of driving a manual, but thanks for the offer.
So from that one pic of the tire you can tell their the wrong size huh? After looking at it again it looks to be a little narrow, is that what you saw or can you actually read the tire size, my eyes aren't all that great.
Since its an 08 and only has 55k miles do you think I could get bmw to sell me an ext. warranty?

my only concern about the accident is him saying it was the bumper only. I just sold my subaru a month ago and had a carfax printed out and found out it was in an accident, no surprise, but all it said was right side damage and wasn't specific like this guy is saying how it was just minor bumper damage.

Okay so I found out today that the vanos solenoid needs to be replaced and is going to be fixed. Is this a common problem on the n54? SA told me that the hpfp has been replaced once in feb 2010 and again in july of 2010. That was all he would tell me over the phone and said he wasn't even supposed to give out service history to anyone but the owner. He did say other than the 2 fuel pumps that he didn't see any other major repairs. I did tell the owner that I want him to get a printout of service history and fax it to me.

Honestly, vanos solenoids and fuel pumps are not a rare thing to be replaced on these engines. My car is on it's second set of solenoids and it's 4TH! fuel pump. This last one is the latest revision and seems to be holding up well. Noisy wastegates also are an issue with these engines, but it doesn't seem too affect everyone. The car does seem to be priced a tad high, but if it's local, I guess you pay for the convenience.

Yeah there's another white 08 335i sedan with 56k miles that im looking at that has evrything the one above has plus nav, premium package, comfort access, ext warrenty and service till 10/2014 but the guy wants 28,500 for it. Niether are local, im about 5 hrs away from both cars. The grey one is actually one of the lowest price 08's on craigslist in all major cities in CA. Checked auto trader and didn't find any that were better. If I could get the guy down a few grand on the white one I would take it in a heart beat considering its my faverite color and has the ext warrenty and service for 3 more years. When they give you the 10 year warrenty on the hpfp does that restart everytime they replace it? Also am I correct in thinking that the noisy wastegates are on the 07's only or do 08's with the re-designed turbos still rattle?

So I have been looking at a few others that are a little more money but have ext. warranty and maintenance. Heres one that i really like but the guy is slow to respond to my ?'s. In the ad under interior it says tan but I think its Oyster and black dakota leather casue it looks to light to be tan and the dash and part of the door panels are black, is that right? It says it has hands free and voice activated phone, homelink. Does that mean it has the premium package? I really like the green too, its the only one i've seen.
