BMW releases new F10 M5 testing video from private racetrack - Redline over 7000 rpm
Below you will find BMW's new video showing the F10 M5 being run at the test track. What is interesting is we get a nice shot of the tachometer showing the redline is indeed over 7000 rpm. What does this mean? Well, the S63 in the X5 and X6 M redlines at 6800 rpm so BMW has likely made some changes to shift the powerband more to the right. It looks like it gets up to about 7150 rpm from the video. The launch control function is also shown in action and seems to launch at about 4000 rpm, check it out below.

The X6 and X6 M will likely have the same turbos as this. This will have the same basic engine as the X6 M, yes.
550 tt? That has the N63. I suggest you read my N63 vs. S63 comparison article: http://www.bimmerboost.com/content.p...and-S63-motors

Oh yea lol, all those too. I swear I read somewhere the x5m and x6m have different turbos. But i guess it was between n63 and s63 instead. pretty cool to be honest, I cant wait till ppl get the cars in their hands and mod it. Ppl will be happy with intake downpipe and tune, should make more than enough power.

It seemed to me that the handling shots were done with the car in Comfort mode, every single time they showed the gauges (as above) you can see steering and suspension were set to COmfort and the engine (or whatever) set to Efficient.
I did think it rolled a bit much but if that's Comfort mode, then color me impressed. Either way, they said it was definitely faster than the E60 M5 around their track which is impressive considering the size and weight of this F10.

I think this is going to an absolutely great sports sedan and BMW will get it right. I hope so, as it does make me a little nervous when they keep emphasizing "comfort" and "convenience." Although I'm going to assume they mean they've cleaned it up from the E60 M5's somewhat cantankerous street ride.
I've driven the F10 550i several times now and it's definitely been softened up with 'comfort' in mind, even with the M sport package. But if this is quicker than the E60 M5 around their test track, then they've clearly got the comfort + handling issue down.

They aren't really emphasizing comfort and convenience as much as promoting it as the everyday supercar. The comfort mode and such is just adjustable suspension settings. Sometimes you want to drive without jarring your fillings loose
This is a frequent complaint, that the F10 is too soft and disconnected. I just hope it isn't quicker solely due to its power increase.

Yeah, good point. Not doubt they do want to stress the everyday aspect of the car (which is what we want out of it anyway, to be realistic.) Although I realize many will disagree, I found the E60 M5 a bit too close to the loose filling end of the spectrum (at least for a purported 'everyday' car.)
I drove them several times and pretty extensively. There is a disconnect that's obvious when comparing to the E60. I attribute it primarily to the electronic steering, although I could be wrong and it's just a combo of lots of factors. But it's definitely noticeable.
btw, the new AMG W212 E63 5.5TT will now have electromechanical steering. It's a fairly easy way for manufacturers to shave off a few mpgs to get points under CAFE.

I think sticky hit the nail on the head, it will be faster around the track but probably because of the extra power. I'd be surprised to see it have a better feel than the E60 M5 but it might just get the job done thanks to the TTV8.

Most people mention the new steering as the issue that makes the F10 feel disconnected. I hope they resolve this aspect with the M5 which needs feedback through the wheel.
I was amazed at the ride quality of the E92 M3 with the adjustable suspension. You really do get the best of everything and no doubt the M5 will use a similar system.

1:15 , Reminded me the sound of S85, a weak noise for a V10 but at least it's better than M SUV's sound.
