Synapse BOV and ER chargepipe *review*

So I said I would post a review when I got these items so here it is:

    Install:
The install itself was not complicated at all, and was not confusing. There were little things that made this a bit more time consuming than I expected. Taking the Air Box off was easy and I had to do it anyway to put my DCI back on. Then I got to the stubborn DV's, as some reviews stated, THEY DO NOT ALL TWIST OFF IN THE SAME DIRECTION! They weren't too easy to get off, but with a little muscle they eventually popped right out. Then taking everything else out was very easy. Putting the ER chargepipe on the throttle body took a bit of force and it did not seem to want to go on, but it did. So overall it wasnt too hard when compared to the other things that we have installed on my car, I would give it a 3/10 difficulty. Anyone with a small bit of effort can do this.

    Impressions:
The BOV came very well packed and wrapped heavily in bubble wrap. Fred@evolutionracewerks really helped me out and spent a lot of his time on the phone with me and got this out very quickly. The free T-shirt was a nice bonus too. This looks absolutely AWESOME in the engine bay! When I turned it on and revved it for the first time it was crazy, I couldnt believe how awesome it sounded! This is defiantly the coolest sounding thing I have on my car now, and I absolutely love it. Some people have said that BOV's are ricey, trashy, ect. but I can assure you that these labels do not apply to the synapse BOV. This BOV sounds perfect, it is not too loud and not too quiet. You can hear it very well around 2.5-3k RPM and even more so at the higher RPM's but it is not intrusive at all. I thought the sound might get annoying but I can tell that it has just the right tone to where I will never want to take it off. Now, onto the performance aspect; it was raining when I took my first drive with it on so I couldn't really tell if there was much of a gain; so I took it out today Click here to enlarge. There is better throttle response and it felt like the car accelerated a bit quicker. This is defiantly a mod anyone with increased boost levels should buy! Too bad the chargepipe got a bit dirty in all that rain Click here to enlarge

I'm curious to see if there are any gains at 17+psi going from stock chargepipe/diverter valves to this. If not Horsepower gains then shift/throttle response gains.

I need a dyno. If I ever do this I'll also log duty cycle of the waste-gates before and after.

    Throttle response is defiantly quicker.

Hmmm, well see I am very particular with inline 6 exhausts. They can sound very terrible very quick if you don't choose the right one.

From what I've heard I really like the BMW Performance exhaust, anything louder is just too annoying and raspy.

If only I could get it for a decent price! I am also looking for the extra HP and TQ, so catless would really help. I am sure I will find one soon enough, I know AE is awesome, but it is also very expensive. I need to find one used! LSD is still next in line, but I want exhaust too Click here to enlarge

You must be thinking of two different things? Cat-less refers to downpipes and in that case I suggest AR design downpipes.

When you said exhaust I thought you were talking about muffler system.

You wont see large gains with a muffler system, but you will see huge gains with downpipes. My personal opinion is to get downpipes catless and leave stock muffler, it sounds the best with catless pipes.

No, I am talking about a catback exhaust that deletes the secondary catalytic converters; catless.
I already have the catless AR downpipes.

The mid-pipes have cats. You could do AR or CP-E down-pipes, whatever brand catless mids (hard to mess this up) and leave it bolted up to the stock axle-back (muffler).

Then you are talking about the midpipes, and in that case it is not always included in an exhaust system. The catback doesnt always come with mid pipes.

My suggestion is to get catless midpipes and keep your stock exhaust (muffler system).

I am talking about a complete downpipe back exhaust. I have an offer to get catless mid pipes for $150, but i dont know what I would use to cut the stock exhaust and I do not want an exhaust leak.

I have one but its not good enough quality. I will take another today or tomorrow. The BOV seems to have gotten a bit louder, I am not sure why.
