Mfactory just rebranding products? E9X M3 S65 V8 carbon fiber V2 driveshaft actually YFCM
Companies rebranding or private labeling products happens all the time. There is a difference though when a company claims to engineer and design products they sell when that engineering and design actually takes place by somebody else.
That appears to be what Mfactory was doing with the V2 carbon fiber driveshaft. They also latter offered a V3 and it seems this was a much lower quality piece likely meaning they sourced it from someone other than YFCM:
I finally received the authentic "V2" carbon driveshaft. This was actually patented & manufactured by YFCM all along.
MFactory was nothing more than a private label'er - no engineering, nothing.
The comparison with the V3 I received last year is brutal.
No glued balancing weights.
The self-locking flange with much more refined machining for lightness.
The winded carbon filament with signature yellow braid over the golf-club pasted tube.
Considering the machined flanged and smaller diameter tube, I'm also anticipating the V2 to be lighter than the V3.
It seems if you want the real deal with higher quality for your E9X M3, you can just go straight to YFCM.
In 6 weeks since this saga started - we were able to find, source and validate the actual patent holder & manufacturer of the authentic "V2" carbon fiber driveshaft for the E9X M3.
YFCM Composites & M. Lee
I received my DCT authentic driveshaft today & unboxed it tonight. I couldn't wait to show you guys.
First Impressions
---
The machining and overall craftsmanship is light years ahead of the Mickey-Mouse Factory V3 carbon fiber driveshaft.
Balancing weights; what are those?
---
There are no glued balancing weights anywhere. The only protruding piece is a rivet on the CV flange side.
I emailed M. Lee to clarify whether this is used for balancing, or to rivet the CV flange in place.
The signature carbon work
---
The carbon work is a work of art: it's evident the winding method of YFCM is much more researched than the pasting method of the golf club tubing of the V3.
The yellow filament, the puzzle-like weave shape in some sections, and how it all comes together is further evidence this is a thoroughly engineered product.
