Wow. Things sure are changing in a hurry but the Subaru WRX STI being cancelled was not something BoostAddict saw coming. This is bad news for enthusiasts as well as future internal combustion motors as a whole.

Rising gas prices clearly played a part here and Subaru seems to think prices will prevent the STI from selling or at least it is no longer worth developing.

The Subaru WRX STI and the STI brand represent the zenith of Subaru's performance vehicles exemplifying Subaru's unique DNA and rally heritage. As we look to the future, we also look forward to incorporating the essence of STI into our next generation of vehicles.
We may get an electric STI in the future but that is little solace for those waiting to see what the STI based on the new WRX platform would bring.

However you may feel, perhaps this is the day we can mark down officially as the beginning of the end of the internal combustion performance car.
