No V12 for AMG W223 S-Class models, hybrid S63e and S73e coming instead - 805+ horsepower
No V12 for the new Mercedes-Benz W223 S-Class. That goes fo even the AMG models. BenzBoost wondered what Mercedes-AMG had in store for the new W223 generation S-Class and now we know, hybrid power. A lot of hybrid power.
The S63e is expected to have a 134 horsepower electric motor boosting output to the 700 range. The S73e is expected to have a 201 horsepower motor taking output to 805+ horsepower.
This is in addition to the M177 twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 of course.
We will know more when the S63e and S73e officially debut in November.
The V12 is gone for the S-Class but Maybach is rumored to offer it in their premium S-Class variant which may not be rolled out worldwide.

I'm kind of excited about this. The electric motor plus the stout M177 gives you more power and efficiency than just the biturbo v12. The electric motor torque right off the line while you wait for your m177 to spool up should net a tangible improvement in 0-60 times.
However it sure won't sound like a v12.
