I can't believe the BMW aftermarket hasn't nailed this by now.

So many S85+DCT swaps on my mind...

It can be done if you have a manual S85 with the DCT ECU from the Scandinavian guys. But that would only work as a manual shifting transmission not with Auto and other OEM functions.

Why not with the SMG S85?

I think i got you confused, I'm talking about E60 M5 with the OEM electronics. Of course swapping the SMG out with the SMG harness/ECU in place would make the DME do all sort of nastiness. First you need to make it think it's a MT then swap in the DCT and it's stuff.

No, the question I was raising is why it was easier with the manual E60 M5.

So the ECU will allow manual DCT shifts then you're saying?

While the SMG E60 M5 ECU will not work even manually?

Yeah the MT ECU doesn't know how you are shifting the gears and it doesn't care. The SMG ECU on the other hand relies on the TCU inputs. That's why SMG to manual swap is not that straight forward with the E60.
@Nisse Järnet.TCU basically turns the DCT into a sequential box.

That's what I was wondering and the first I've heard this. Manual E60's make the best swap candidates then.
