Torque x RPM = FAST - The difference between a stock MKV Supra B58 turbo tuned on E30 vs. Pure800 B58 hybrid turbo tune on E30
A great overlay here from Mission Performance on a Mustang dynamometer illustrating on the dyno what exactly an upgraded hybrid turbo gets you on the A90/MKV Toyota Supra B58. The hybrid turbo upgrade is provided by Pure Turbos and they call it the Pure800.
Notice how a bit of torque on the right hand side of a graph goes a long way in power output. The reason for that is you are multiplying torque by rpm. When the factory turbo falls off you are not benefiting from increased revs.
Many tuners will make a car 'feel' faster with a huge torque hit down low only for the turbo to quickly die up top. It may feel fast, but it isn't fast.
Mission Performance tuned this Supra well showing a huge top end gain:
Notice peak torque only increases by 28 lb-ft at the wheels. It is where that torque increase is in the powerband that makes all the difference.
At 6320 rpm the Pure800 turbo is making another 120+ wheel horsepower. That is due to the upgraded turbo holding over 400 lb-ft of torque at the wheels while the factory turbo is dipping under 300 lb-ft a the wheels.
Yes, the factory turbo quickly runs out of steam. The power curve from 4500 rpm until redline is simply night and day. The Pure800 car is going to be much, much faster.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped
