    Dragstrip: Stock BMW F92 M8 versus 2020 Shelby GT500 1/4 mile run

Independent 1/4 mile times are the way to go in order to get an accurate performance assessment. In this case a completely stock new BMW F92 M8 Competition is running the new Ford Shelby GT500 which has its passenger seat removed and a resonator delete.

This should be a pretty good matchup on paper with the GT500 having the stronger top end. The M8 obviously benefits from all wheel drive. The weight between the two is close but the GT500 has a dual clutch box sending power to the rear wheels.

A red light (the first of three) for the M8 but the GT500 does start to chase it down. Impressively the GT500 is quicker and faster despite the worse 60 foot:

They hook better on the second run but the GT500 wins again:

The GT500 clearly shows it is the quicker and faster car. That built in line-lock sure is handy.

The GT500 to me is the more desirable car and the one that will be much more fun to drive/mod.
