Thinking of buying a F10 550i xDrive
Hey,
Thinking about buying one of these for a luxury comfort sedan. There's one available locally for a reasonable price with low'ish KM's and the options I think I want.
Universal Garage Door Opener
Ambient Lighting
Rear Window Defogger
Pwr windows -inc: anti-trap, comfort open/close
Car/key memory
Dual front illuminated sunvisor mirrors
Interior lighting -inc: front foot wells, cargo area, front & rear reading lights
BMW Assist -inc: 1-year Safety & Security subscription, Google MyInfo Send-To-Car
Front centre armrest w/lockable climate-controlled storage
Fineline anthracite interior trim
Central pwr lock switch -inc: fuel-filler door, remote function
Pre-wiring for SIRIUS satellite radio
(3) rear headrests, w/outer positions adjustable
Cupholders integrated in front centre console & rear armrest
60/40 rear seat w/through loading system
3-spoke heated leather sport steering wheel w/audio controls
Voice control for audio, telephone, navigation
Anthracite roof liner
Navigation system -inc: BMW on-board HDD navigation, BMW TeleServices
iDrive system -inc: 10.2 high-resolution display
I currently do not own a car with a V8 in it, and I think the F10 550i would make a nice addition.
Does the xDrive have open diffs front and rear, then uses traction control to put power to the wheels, or does it have a real LSD front and rear.
Is it difficult to equip these with a remote starter?
Does the audio system support BT Audio streaming?

Can't answer your questions, but my guess would no and yes.
Great car, good motor, I'd personally love a 550i or X5 50i as a daily.2013 Audi S6 stock but shopping....
2014 RAM 2500 6.7 Cummins. Far from stock

I would guess open diffs all around. Regarding remote starter, yes, difficult due to BMW's electronics I haven't seen anyone do it on an F10.

I have a 13 550ix with Dinan stage II. Has 6000 miles on it and just past my first year with it.
Great at car as a DD. Best 1/4 to date 12.5 @ 109. Very comfortable. BT music streaming.
Mustang dyno 386/460. Get the IX as it's a great street car stop light to stop light with the awd.
BT phone is very clear and easy to put customers / clients in and out of.

I have had my 550i Xdrive (CPO) for about a year now and love it. It is super fast, but I added a stage 2 Dinan tune anyway
.
The car is luxurious and has all the nice little toys you would expect. I can't say anything bad about this car.
It has the N63TU engine, which does not suffer from all of the problems known to be on the original N63.

There is surprisingly little aftermarket support for the 550i, doesn't have quite the potential you would expect from a twin Turbo V8. Plus the F10 is a bit of a boat compared to the E60I had, and personally I thought it was too much in the direction of the 7 series in terms of size, dynamics, etc.
But a low mileage sport model would be a great daily driver/family hauler.2009 535i Sport

Better look for a G30, I have owned both and the G30 chassis is significant more complete. My 2 cents.
Also it has the revised n63tu2 with some fundamental fixes.
However life is full of limitations and that F10 m550i is a very great car.

Just got me a 550i xDrive as a daily driver, fabulous car for long distances and high speed Autobahn drives.
Looking forward to seeing what I can get out of the N63TU with a remap and some AR Design catted downpipes. Modified speedo already installed...Current: Audi R8 V10 LMX (2015), S-Tronic, matte grey, Capristo exhaust, remap by BR Performance
Gone: Audi R8 V10 2013 S-Tronic, daytona grey, carbon side blades, MTM tune, Michelin PSS tires, Capristo x-pipe
Gone: Audi R8 V10 2010 manual, ice silver, grey side blades, MTM tune, MTM air filters, Michelin PSS tires
Gone: BMW 335i Individual (Öhlins, PFC brakes, RB turbos etc.)
Gone: Alpina B3 E46 3,3

Well the speedo the 550i is equipped with only goes up to 260 km/h. Once the car is remapped, that means I won’t know the speed I’m driving it once I’m beyond 260. That is obviously unacceptable.
I’ve done the same with my M235i, it now has the M2 speedo that goes up to 300 km/h which is much better already.Current: Audi R8 V10 LMX (2015), S-Tronic, matte grey, Capristo exhaust, remap by BR Performance

I eventually removed my Dinan tune(the piggy-back) but kept the CAIs and exhausts. The Dinan tune was causing to manny CELs.
I went with an engine and tranny flash from Mission Performance and havenot looked back. This thing is a beast. I don't want it to go any faster. It almost scares me now. BTW, they also removed the top-speed governor. >160MPh is no problem!!!
Anyway....for those that are looking for a robust, reliable and very, very powerful tune, I can strongly recommend Mission Performance. I got the stage 1 tune along with the transmission tune. I am approaching 600hp at the crank now, with close to the same value of ft/lbs of torque.
Welcome...
