Hey guys,
for those interested in running aftermarket camshafts with an upgraded cylinder head, here are preliminary dyno results for the same 1M featured at the start of the article. However the engine is now running stock 10.2:1 compression ratio and my own Stage 3+ head as apposed to the original VAC Motorsport Stage 3 and of course the large duration Rally/Race camshafts from CAT CAMS. The turbos being used are still the same Stage 3.0 v3 dual ball bearing twins that so far have been proving quite robust, after being pushed to 28psi for a considerable amount of dyno runs on the prior setup whilst dialling the CAT camshafts in.
This 450rwkW (Dyno Dynamics dyno) figure was achieved at only 21psi, with further tuning I'm hoping to see 450rwkW@20psi after which we'll target increased boost pressure to see what the significantly higher flowing head/cam combo is capable of when the turbos are pushed to the edge of their efficiency.
FYI, I have SuperFlow CFM #'s on my Facebook page that directly compare an OEM stock head, a VAC Stage 3 and my Stage 3+ with all cylinder heads being flowed by the same operator on the exact same flow bench.

10.2:1 compression ratio, Its a bit improved. Still waiting to see some experts comments here.

Sure the extra compression no doubt improves power output across the whole rpm range and I couldn't accurately say what gains can be attributed specifically to the extra comp' or improved flow from the cylinder head.
The post was more just to highlight that this setup is working very well, albeit whilst shifting the power curve to the right as sticky alluded to prior.

I have a similar setup as you have: VAC Stage 3 N54 head with a sleeved block installed, upgraded pistons 85mm, low lift cams and used a 1.52mm gasket but when I started the car for a few mins, I've bent two valves.
Did you have to do a custom timing for the new cams to work or did the shop use the BMW N54 standard timing tool?
