By now you saw the new McLaren GT which is McLaren's take on Grand Touring. The purpose of the car is to offer more comfort, interior room, and luggage space. A McLaren GT Spider would obviously cut down on the main feature of the GT which is the rear boot.

Is it worth the sacrifice in luggage space for storing the top? Based on how good the GT looks without its roof, yes.

That does not mean McLaren will produce a GT Spider but it is fun to think about. It certainly looks spectacular as a convertible.
