Hey guys, just picked up a 2010 335i Auto w/ 140k miles. The car is definitely a project, but I had it running and driving the day after buying it before lunch time.. now today I've been driving the car around, it feels great other than having a light on for ABS. AC is now ice cold thanks to some walmart freon and a little electrical fix. Other than being ugly, the car is for some daily driving.

Now heres where I'm at with the car. I believe it already has a tune, and heres why:
- It feels slightly quicker than a normal stock N54 (I've already owned two, and worked on/driven 2 within the last two weeks).

-It has catless DPs with no DP fix or CEL.

That being said, obviously I don't want to run a mystery tune on the car, and I do plan to turn it up in the future anyhow.


Now here is where I have some questions.

1. I had an 07, K-line car. The file failed to write with the BB app and with the help of Trevor we ended up having to nuke a stock flash back onto it with WinKFP (This was after attempting with 3 computers, and 2 cables (one of which being the BG cable I have now). That being said, he always mentioned the Dcan cars were much easier to work with and didn't give as much trouble.. should I anticipate any issues with this car?

2. Speaking of Dcan, the BB app is showing that my car is using Kline protocol (No matter what position the BG switch is in). The car is a 2010, IJE0S 335i. It should be Dcan correct?

3. How long should it take to copy the "factory" file off of the car? Trevor asked last time and I responded with an hour- he said that was much too long.

I would say its probably one of the cheapest sold in 2019 that weren't just outright totaled or sketchy lol.

Last one I purchased was $3900, and I felt like I did pretty good on it.. so $1800 tickles me to death!

Well nothing stopped me from trying..

..but the app failing to write and putting the DME in recovery mode is what stopped me from succeeding. lol.

I just paid for MHD, again, and flashed the tune. Took 20min and the car feels healthy.

Well, that's why the MHD app makes more sense.

I'm not sure what the issue was with the BB app struggling on some cars but as I stated developing it further just didn't make sense when MHD worked great for you.

Interesting this thread got pretty popular as people wanted to read about an $1800 335i. If you find another cheap 335i like that, let me know please. I have something in mind...

Yea, the guys at MHD aren't neccesarily my favorite (they don't allow vin transfer to new vehicle owners, nor do they allow vehicles to be flashed back to stock to "unmarry" the vinlock like other Tuning companies do).. however, their app has always worked flawlessly, so for that they do deserve credit.

Theres a LOT more to come with this car, I've been considering making a few videos with it.

Are you sure? On N55 anyway there's a flash back to stock/uninstall MHD option

you can flash it back to stock, however it doesn’t unmarry your vin to the license.. so if you total a car or sell it, you can’t tranfer that ownership to your replacement vehicle/new owner

That would work, but when purchasing a car that has MHD or if my current car is totaled, I'm generally SOL due to the fact that most people don't make a fresh acc for MHD and I can't unmarry the license.

How bout' them 8.2s! TUNE ONLY (well, and DPs which don't make a damn difference at this boost level). Custom e40 tune, 235 street tires, a passenger and a trunk full of tools. Was able to get lucky and outrun a CTS-V2 as well. He did outrun me the next pass lol
