BMW is testing the 2018/2019 BMW F87 M2 CSL on the Nurburgring - 400 hp S55 derivative expected

BimmerBoost confirmed an F87 M2 CSL would be built back in August. Other car sites are acting like a BMW F87 CSL coming is breaking news but glad to see others get up to speed. BMW is thrashing the CSL on the Nurburgring and they certainly look to be taking track performance seriously.

The somewhat disappointing N55B30T0 powerplant is expected to be replaced with a detuned version of the F80 M3 and F82 M4 S55 motor. If BMW addresses the crank hub the M2 CSL will become the best enthusiast car in the BMW lineup. Therefore, do not expect them to address the S55 crank hub.

400 horsepower (likely underrated anyway) will be plenty with many more horses on tap in the aftermarket. If BMW gets the M2 CSL weight to 32XX pounds, which the M2 should be at to begin with, this car is going to be a lot of fun to drive.

M cars are supposed to be fun to drive, remember BMW?

I haven’t seen any real 1/4 mile #s from a modded m2. I’m sure the car will be fun with the s55 in it, but that interior is blah and the color selection is non existent.

Ummm, your way off base here. That's not the CSL, thats the M2 competition (previously called CS) and it is replacing the base M2 in June 2018. The CSL is still coming but until late 2019 as a 2020 model. This car will have 405hp and I'd bet unless they fixed it in the new M3/M4 the crankhub issue will remain.

It's in the title of the video!

You're wrong BMW isn't calling it the CS, and they are both M2 Competition mules. BMW is using M235i racing cars as cover for development of M2 CSL parts and they aren't that far along yet.

Well there are two M2's in the video so I'm not wrong and ESS Tuning has confirmation of being offered an M2 CSL.

I think there is a lot of speculation going on but only BMW knows what their mule is.

Either way, an M2 with an S55 will be awesome.
