Squeezing horses out of the Porsche 991.2 GT3 4.0 - Dundon Motorsports 20 whp header gains

The 991.2 generation GT3 already makes incredible power from 4.0 liters of displacement. 500 horses in naturally aspirated form from a relatively small six-cylinder is incredible. Not to mention Porsche is actually delivering a bit more than advertised.

Dundon Motorsports measured this manual 991.2 GT3 at 456 horsepower to the wheels on a Dynapack. That is 26 whp more than a 991.1 GT3 RS on the same dyno. 100 horsepower per liter is considered excellent for a naturally aspirated motor. 114 wheel horsepower per liter is another level altogether. Porsche is the best in the business when it comes to squeezing out naturally aspirated power.

So what did Dundon Motorsports do to extract more power and torque? They designed a set of performance headers for the street.

Take a look at the torque before/after:

They picked up a chunk of torque from 3000-5000 rpm. A very nice 46 lb-ft of torque at the wheels gain at 4474 rpm. They also managed to pick up a bit of torque from 5700 rpm until redline. In other words, gains down low and up top without any sacrifice anywhere in the curve. That is very difficult to accomplish.

    Here is the horsepower curve:

They get 20 horsepower at the wheels up top at 8300 rpm. The horsepower peak is shifted ever so slightly to the right. In other words, a stronger top end.

    Simply very well done.

Pure Green, or Reingrun in German.

I only had it for one day before dropping it off for paint correction, PPF, and ceramic coating. That should be completed by Tuesday. Then on to installing the headers and lithium battery. I’ll make a thread then. It has a few CXX touches inside as well.
