F1 2018 - An exciting British GP at Silverstone shows the season will be hard fought

The British Grand Prix was exciting and one of the better races of the 2018 calendar year thus far. Ferrari and Mercedes-AMG had at it again proving whomever is going to come out on top at the end is really going to have to earn it and perhaps have some luck involved.

Lewis Hamilton unfortunately was unlucky but wow did he show off his skill. He was spun out on the first lap going from pole sitter to back of the pack. He impressively fought back all the way to second place. An incredible drive.

Ferrari won it though and it seems Ferrari is able to get a launch at the start of the race that is just better than the other cars/teams. It was this pressure early on from Ferrari that forced the Lewis Hamilton collision. Kimi Raikkonen was penalized 10 seconds for hitting Hamilton.

The race claimed numerous victims with six drivers not finishing the race. Verstappen went from champion the previous week in Austria to DNF.

Obviously there is a long way to go from here but it is quite competitive at least between the top three teams of Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG, and Red Bull.

One of the better races this year? That was one of the best races IN YEARS, hands down. You just don’t see the top 6 drivers going wheel-to-wheel at 10/10ths for the last third of the race, when it matters, anymore. Amazing ballsy pass by Vettel for the lead. Great gutsy driving by Hamilton to recover from last to 2nd. Kimi looked great too, fending off the Red Bulls and getting past Bottas even after his 10sec penalty. Too bad Hamilton with his usual drama queen antics soured the mood at the end by storming off and not even giving his home crowd a pit lane interview, then claiming that Ferrari was crashing their cars on purpose. That guy is a total $#@!ing embarrassment to the sport. He gives no respect and deserves even less in return. Otherwise, what a race.

One of the better races this year? That was one of the best races IN YEARS, hands down.

Sorry, I only really started watching a full season starting this year. Getting F1 races was always a chore before.

So, for me, it was the best race of the year.

You summed it up well but what about AMG mis-managing Bottas' tires? He couldn't fend anyone off and quickly fell off the podium as he was picked off toward the end. I thought he was going to win it at one point.

Yeah Hamilton storming off proves what a baby he is. He had nothing to be ashamed of. That drive was even better than what Vettel managed when he was relegated to the back of the pack in an earlier GP and had to crawl back through the field. He didn't make it to 2nd.

Hamilton acted like this GP is supposed to be his.

It's hard to root for Hamilton. I don't.
