600 whp heads/cam C6 Z06 battles the new C7 ZR1 from a roll
The C7 ZR1 is not impressing early on. Well, at least with its straightline performance. It is built for the track and has a lot of downforce but also with a ton of power it should be very strong on the highway.
Part of the problem seems to be all of these early ZR1's are manuals and the drivers are not all that great. This is illustrated well in the video below where a 600 whp C6 Z06 (manual only) takes on the new ZR1.
Skip to the 4:35 mark to avoid the nonsense.
The C6 is lighter and it definitely requires a good driver. In the first race the Z06 pulls the new ZR1.
The second run has a better start for the ZR1 and it wins.
The third run has an early lead for the Z06 and the ZR1 starts to close the gap and edge right before they shut down. That is how it should play out based on the power figures and weights.
Race four is fairly even until it looks like the Z06 lets off or misses a gear.
Let's get those automatic ZR1's out there...

600whp C6Z is no joke. Stock Zr1 running with that is pretty good.
Definitely not just a 129mph trap car. Something must have been up with that other one.

10 years later and the C6 z06 is still a monster. A healthy heads and cam car should be in the 135mph ballpark.
