I don't consider ring times on different days absolutes as on a track of that length that is public there are many variables. The ZR-1 is handicapped by not having a dual clutch transmission. I mean, it basically boils down to the ZR-1 being faster than the GTR, which it is. Considering it is lighter and more powerful, that should tell you what you need to know about how the GTR stacks up to the Carrera GT.

No one claims a Honda Odyssey is a supercar.

ok so let see here car A weighs 700lb less that car B, car A has 153 more hp than car B, oh wow car A has similar ceramic brakes as the FXX and car B has regular metal rotors by comparison. So lets sum it up car A has less weight with more power to move it and better brakes to stop its less weight and that equals 3sec after 13 miles!! SO WHAT IS MORE IMPRESSIVE CAR A OR CAR B??

Since the c6 zr1 weighs in at 3340lbs this would make car b 4000lbs? Wow! I never dreamed nissan would make the "sports car" weigh that much.

Who gives a crap about handicaps? Nissan did not set out to build a car and specifically drag it down with handicaps. They set out to build a car that could beat the 997t. And they did! Congrats! Oh they did add specific handicaps to help the car go fast on track: such as the all wheel drive system, computer controlled traction, dual clutch auto manual, etc.

So much so that everyone that has driven both(gtr and 997t) says its so much easier to drive faster in the gtr. The gtr is basically a damn simulator that drives itself!

nissan had an original budget to build a platform for around 80k, the sophisticated awd,dct,computers, engine components, etc etc etc all cost money so they had to make choices aka compromises, dont you think nissan knows that carbon fiber, or other exotics materials weigh less than metal!?!? now lets give all you haters out there the ultimate nightmare, take the exact same car dont change not one screw and give it about 35k worth of weight reduction, now just imagine how breathtaking the performance would be at say 3400lb!?!?! That would give it the same msrp as a zr1, if chevy had a target of 80k they would have to compromise on some things in the zr1 and thats called a z06

the handicap is the price and thats a FACT, a 997tt is up north of 140k so the engineers have more choices and thats what i mean by handicaps, cf or metal, steel brakes or ceramic brakes

does that mean nissan did good or bad? they used all the latest technology to build the fastest possible car! arent the gallardo,r8,997tt all awd? doesnt the m3,italia,997.2,veyron all have dct?? so nissan used the most efficient systems to put down its performance

The GTR weighs 500lbs more than the ZR1. Its heavy but not 4k lbs heavy.

The GTR is a great car no doubt. To say its one of the greatest ever made is overboard. The vid was supplied as factual information regarding this thesis. The fact is that the GTR has a lot of goodies to make it go faster. Even with these advanced tech gadgets the GTR could not run the with the ZR1. This will presumably change model year 12!

That is a good point, we are a bit spoiled, the price is great for what you get especially when compared to other regions.

Nissans GTR's probably are lightened and given more power considering no one but them can hit these times.

SportAuto was 14 sec off the pace in both the old and new 12 GTR's when they ran the lap I believe. Compared to their 6 sec slower lap with the gt2rs. I thought the GTR was supposed to be easier to drive faster on track for normal(non pro driver) than the Porsche counterpart?
