A 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE gets a 2.9 liter Whipple LT4 supercharger swap, Katech heads, Katech camshaft, and a tune - 758 whp
At this point it should be obvious that ditching the factory LT4 supercharger pays huge dividends. The Eaton TVS1740 blower the LT4 comes with is by no means a poor blower but it just needs to be spun fairly high to make big power on the 6.2 liter V8.
That means great response but also a lot of heat. Chevy honestly made a mistake and C7 Z06's have been paying for it with heat soak ever since.
Chevy fixed the heat soak issue on the ZL1 by adding 11 heat exchangers. All that cooling is great but the baby blower remains. That is where a Whipple 2.9 liter comes in.
Katech didn't just put on the larger twin screw they also added their heads and cam. The result after tuning is a huge increase over the baseline:
Over 210 wheel horsepower picked up but the motor is also revving higher with a much stronger top end curve.
The increased power and torque is great but the car should also be more efficient with the blower not having to work as hard. There is also plenty of headroom should the owner want more.
