Audi S5 3.0t traps 126.08mph
Hey fellas,
I haven't posted here in awhile, but I made a few changes to my set-up and keep chipping away at it. I no longer have GIAC software (they were great), as I switched to APR because I really wanted to see what I can do with their 80mm throttle body set-up (Ultracharger). They have also been wonderful to me and really been on top of it in terms of user input for a product that's already production ready.
Here is my set-up, pretty basic list in terms of mods:
-APR ECU (Ultracharger, 104 file)
-APR TCU
-AWE 57.55mm s/c pulley
-Fluidampr 194mm crank pulley
-HPFP upgrade
-e85/93 fuel
-Killerchiller w/ AWE reservoir & pump
-Tampa Autosports test pipes
-Tampa Autosports ported OEM supercharger
-Modded OEM airbox
Everything else is stock. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sports 4s in OEM sized 255/35/19, fuel was just barely below 1/2 tank after the run. Density altitude was 948ft, with barometric pressures around 30.19 in Hg which allowed for a decent boost curve from 1st to 4th gear from the ported blower. I'm not sure on the specifics of the blower, the donor car which is was on for months prior was totaled, I know the owner of the car and have driven his car with this blower and felt positive changes, so it was a one mans "trash" is another mans treasure situation since they insurance totaled out the car. A quick hour swap...
...there is more to be had. I didn't anticipate that the ported blower inducing more wheelspin at the track, so I had to launch at around 1,500 rpm. After this dragstrip event, I did learn an alternative launch method that allowed me to launch harder and keep an APR-specific wide-open throttle upshift algorithm that should allow for a drop in E.T. and a higher trap.
Regarding boost, the car's performance is more than a single-gear dyno run now. I have around 4psi more boost in 1st gear, 3psi more in 2nd gear, 2psi more in 3rd gear (bleeding off some as it exceeds the file requests), 1.5psi more in 4th gear (again bleeding off some) in an almost apples-to-apples comparison.
Also in an almost apples-to-apples comparison, the port job gained about 3mph in overall trap speeds, but hopefully will end up being more soon.

sure, it's not quite an apples-to-apples as these runs were done in 1,100 ft D/A's and I was able to get a "hard launch" closer to 3,500rpm and full AMAX (it's what APR calls their wide-open throttle upshift mode). It basically speeds up the clutching and eliminates the DSG burps in between shifts because there isn't that slight pause, so this gives a higher trap speed and lower E/T (my past experience says - .1 e.t. and + 1.5 mph)
My 126.08mph trap was a "soft launch" at 1,500rpm and no AMAX upshifts, track re-opens in January so I'll make my way out there to see if I can aim and accomplish a 127.xx mph trap.

Audiboost member switches from GIAC to APR tuning and picks up 3 miles per hour of trap speed - B8 S5 3.0T runs 11.0@126
Excellent results here from AudiBoost member @spool twice who keeps pushing his 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 in his B8 Audi S5 to new heights. To be perfectly fair he made more changes than just switching from GIAC to APR tuning.
He wanted to pair APR's tuning to their Ultracharger setup which includes a larger throttle body. He also ported the supercharger so the gain in trap speed is not through tuning alone.
Here is the mod list:
-APR ECU (Ultracharger, 104 file)
-APR TCU
-AWE 57.55mm s/c pulley
-Fluidampr 194mm crank pulley
-HPFP upgrade
-e85/93 fuel
-Killerchiller w/ AWE reservoir & pump
-Tampa Autosports test pipes
-Tampa Autosports ported OEM supercharger
-Modded OEM airbox
This results in a very impressive pass just shy of breaking into the 10's:
Now the slips with GIAC tuning:
The car has a bit more wheelspin now so with better traction it looks like 10's should be achievable.

wow very cool, front page! haha
I do have some additional mods to try out this time (software/hardware), I now have my throttle body adapter/reducer ported/polished, I have not had a chance to log just yet, but the car feels more on-the-spot for throttle response. Plus I have a different software, hopefully it will resolve the boost bypass that I get at the top of 3rd gear into 4th gears because of potential boost exceeding the software requests.
Hopefully they all add upI'll hit the track next week, with less fuel this time. I had 1/2 tank of fuel on this run, and perhaps remove my spare/jack as well.

slowly inching forward...
I attended a local Audi Sport of Tampa private drag day at Bradenton Motorsports. The weather was perfect, low density altitudes, low temps, high barometric pressures, and low humidity. The only downside to this day was the sun wasn't out to heat up the track surface, so almost every Audi S4/S5 car beyond stage 1 levels just spun all four wheels no matter how it was launched.
Overall, it was fun to hang out with a group of Audi enthusiasts who share the same passion.
I didn't get a chance to grab all of my time slips, but here are some that I managed to snag:
[email protected] (personal best trap...hopefully with grip it'll go up more)

[email protected]
I lost a lot of my other [email protected] mph slips, had a few 124.xx mph, 125.xx mph once where I completely spun 1st gear. Happy that I'm inching upwards in trap speeds, my previous best was 126.08mph, but a gain is still a gain.
Here is a video of one of my slower runs with basically wheelspin in 1st gear:

on the GIAC software, I ran an 10.976 (#2), there are 2 others did ran 10.9x. I can't launch with this new set-up, its proving difficult so I've bee using a lower 2,000rpm launch technique (vs 4500 on my 10.9 run), and focusing on no-slip launches and trap speeds, sorta like a "run it like how I would run it on the streets" type of deal.
My highest trap to date is 127.66 mph btw...

it simply overpowers all fours, spins in 1st and 2nd gears. I just need better tires, but I've been sticking to the daily driver theme so I've stuck with street tires. Currently I run MPS 4S, which I feel don't offer the same level of grip for acceleration as my old PSS'
