Afr problems and 2c32
Hey everyone. I've been having this recurring 2c32 code pop up since I had my DPs installed. When they were installed, the rear O2 sensors were switched. That was fixed and the car ran great for weeks. No dp fix was ever installed. Around Christmas time, I accelerated a little aggressive to avoid a rear end impact from a distracted driver. After I resumed my normal speed, the car began to stumble and turned on the check engine light. The following are the codes I pulled: 29cd, 29ce, 29cf, 2c32, and 2d5a. There was no room to pull over on the highway, so I ran a few logs.

Both show weird AFR patters. The first one has one bank running rich with the other running very lean, then they flip flop. The second log shows a wavy AFR pattern with bank 1 being the one that can't stay still. I eventually pulled over and cleared the codes. By then, the engine was running smooth again.
Fast forward to today and I still get the 2c32 code. On Saturday, while accelerating moderately, the car turned on the check engine gone light again and gave me the following codes: 2c32, 2c39, 2c3a. I cleared those codes and ran a log without resetting adaptations.

Tonight, I have the following codes: 2c2b and 2c32.
My 335is has the following mods: Wagner stage 2comp intercooler, VRSF dp, TFT inlets and chargepipe, TIAL BOV, and running stage 0 mhd while I do all of the preventative maintenance before getting a custom tune. I have done adaptation resets in the past and the 2c32 code keeps popping up. Before I start sinking money into parts that may or may not fix the issue, does anyone have an idea of what may be going on? Thanks in advance!

You're throwing codes for the pre-cat O2s, not the post cat ones. MHD can turn off codes for the post cat efficiency, but the sensors are still needed for trims. It's hard to say from the logs definitively, but I would lean towards either a lazy/bad pre-cat o2 sensor(s) or bad injectors. Your short term trims are WAY apart from each other on the WOT pull just to get close to similar AFRs.
What Tony said is definitely something to check - if you have a leak, it would affect AFRs. I would think you would hear it as an exhaust leak though.

I figured the same. I’ve been listening as hard as I can but don’t hear anything unusual. I’ll still check the clamps regardless. Wouldn’t bad injectors trip an injector code for that cylinder? I’m leaning more on bad pre-cat sensors since the misfire incident I had before the first two logs was specific to cylinders 1,2, and 3 in bank 1. If it is bad injectors, I wonder if I can have the shop change them and then get the reimbursement from BMW like stated in the extended warranty thing that came out, or if I have to do it at the dealership now.

I have not but I haven’t gotten the code since the weather got warmer here. I’m now wondering if it’s a combination of cold weather and not having a tune while having upgrades installed. I need to get a tune to test that theory.

That very well could be it. The weather was warm here for a day like, above 60 F, And it was running good,...temperature dropped the next day and I was getting the same codes for fuel trims. I'm running JB4 with stock ecu (never flashed to my knowledge). I'm wondering if a backend flash would resolve it? I was planning on doing a backend flash either way, so we will see what happens.

Post your results when you do. I’m out of town for the week but will do a pull and post the log. We’re expecting 70-80* weather this weekend, so it’ll be perfect. I’m still deciding on who to use for a tune, so I’ll log with my stage 0 for now. If I get no codes, then that’ll really make me believe it’s the cold air/weather.

So a little update. I took the car to ABR where they found out it had 2 leaks, one being the oil cap. Both were fixed and the code came right back. They also tested the sensors and they all seemed okay. The mechanic stated if the code came back, to replace the sensors for bank 2, which I’ll do. Meanwhile, while getting a log, I had a misfire on #2 . I swapped coils with #4 and it followed it there, so I’m deciding on PR or BL. The repairs to the leaks seemed to help STFT a bit. Hopefully the coils and new sensors will solve the issue.
