Privateer Dodge Viper ACR team runs 7:03.45 Nurburgring laptime

Remember the article last month about a grassroots (well, as grassroots as it gets for Viper owners) effort to get the Gen V Dodge Viper ACR on the Nurburgring? Well, the first time laptime for the group is in.

The Dodge Viper ACR managed a lap in 7:03.45. Quick, definitely, but they did not break into the 6 minute range as expected.

They hoped to top the Lamborghini Huracan Performante but they have a long way to go in order to beat a time of 6:52:01.

The driver is Dominik Farnbacher. This is the man who ran a 7:12.13 'Ring time in the 4th generation Viper ACR.

The team will likely try again as conditions have been rainy and they had limited running windows. This is essentially their first full go. We wish them the best of luck on subsequent attempts!

It's unfortunate that they suffered a failure at the track and didn't get to make any better attempts than this. I would love to see how the laptime from an ACR with a H/C package would compare to the insane GT2RS time on the 'ring.

Heads/cam would be awesome to see at the track but I'm surprised it didn't do better as is.

I feel like on a pretty fast track such as the 'ring the 1 ton of downforce might have had a significant effect on the lap time, when you consider how the FCA restricts the Viper's engine output it really makes you think of what could have been with an extra 50-100 BHP.
