488 GTB not as quick as we thought? Ferrari 488 GTB takes on a GAD tuned W212 Mercedes-AMG E63 and an Audi R8
Independent test data on the Ferrari 488 GTB is not too easy to come by. There is an early drag race video from the Middle East showing the twin turbo Ferrari run 10.372 @ 137.35 miles per hour.
In this video when running the E63 the 488 GTB is clocked at 11.408 @ 131.65. How exactly does one account for that variance? Different timing equipment is a big factor but that is a very wide spread.
The 488 GTB has to chase down the E63 which launches better and it does run it down and pass. It is pulling harder at the 1/2 mile as the E63 traps 126.23 miles per hour and the half mile spread between the two is ten miles per hour.
Next up is a 2nd generation Audi R8 for the Ferrari. It appears to be stock. The R8 just rips the Ferrari out of the hole opening up a huge lead. The R8 wins but its traps are lower than the 488 GTB:
Is the Ferrari GTB just not as quick and fast as that video from Bahrain had us believe? There was a video of the Ferrari losing to an MP4-12C which has since been pulled.
Hopefully more Ferrari 488 GTB owners put their car to the test.

It's because these sketchy Russian drag races use suspect equipment, have cars that aren't running what they say they are, and more than a few amateur "drivers" who don't know how to drive.
There are always a few head-scratching times in these videos. Just because a car can run the times, doesn't mean it does every run.

Since it is a turbo car running substantial boost does octane come into play to explain the variance in trap speeds?
