Quattro dominates Audi's identity. You all know the story where Audi states they were banned at one time from rally racing due to dominating with Quattro all wheel drive. That story is true but what is also true is that Audi's street cars tend to be nose heavy and understeer.

With the new Audi Sport brand (renamed Quattro) Audi is considering going in a different direction by offering rear wheel drive RS cars. That would be a massive change for Audi which always champions all wheel drive.

Audi does race rear wheel drive models namely their R8 GT3 race cars. Could this mean a future RWD R8 for sale or a future rear wheel drive RS4/RS5?

I can imagine we can also have cars with rear-wheel drive or two-wheel drive in the future.
The internet is reading quite a bit into those comments from the Audi Sport CEO. He states basically that Audi is open to the possibility but no RWD Audi Sport or RS models have actually been confirmed.

At least they are open to the idea of a RWD RS car.
