    634HP?

    Hi Guys,
as ever I've been doing some tweaks to the car. I got the chance for a quick WOT run after work. Loading this into virtual dyno it looks like 539WHP and 634 HP at the crank.
Just checking. Is VD estimating wheel horse power? I know any numbers it spits out have to be taken with a pinch of salt. My old stockers never passed 450WHP with this kind of a tune and fuel.

This was on 93 pump gas with my custom port meth injection and 23 pounds of boost. Vargas GC turbos. The timing was nice and stable without any significant drops.

I need to do some E50+meth test hits now

VD approximates whp. You can change the dyno correction factor in the options. By default it should be dynojet. In terms of accuracy, ive been wondering myself. I cant find any thread where someone posted their dyno with their log/VD graph of the same run, but then again i havent looked that hard.

WHP and no reason it shouldn't be close to that power level with those mods, boost and meth. You'd be doing well to have stockers over 225whp at 7000rpm LOL People (not saying you) are too hung up on peak numbers. Stock turbos can make "good" peak power for about 200rpm and then fall on their face, yours is still climbing at 7000rpm. Totally different curve.

Definitely need to take the numbers with a grain of salt. Best thing to do would be log both ways on the same stretch of road. If the log from one way is noticeably lower, you've got a slope. You want as flat as possible and 0 wheel spin. Up/down slope doesn't matter much using it for relative tuning as long as it's the same place and slope every time. As for power numbers, they can be fudged on purpose or accidentally in any number of ways, better off just going to a dyno once you get it dialed in.

EDIT: seriously doubt there's anything remotely close to 15% drive line loss on these, but can't say for sure Click here to enlarge

Did you put barometer reading in?
as long as all your data is entered you can see the delta gained.

put your smoothing at 5 and reduce your dynojet to 1 from 1.09 and it will start to be more realistic.

Everyone bashes VD but if you use it all the time with the correct data it's same as a dyno

    What is your timing target?

When we did 93 octane testing, changing ONLY boost, timing target about 4.5* up top, A/F 11.5 or so and of course no meth/etc. (i.e. this has room for improvement) we got...

    16 psi: 449 whp 427 wtq
    20 psi: 482 whp 460 wtq
    22 psi: 509 whp 478 wtq
    25 psi: 543 whp 519 wtq

That was a while ago, so not the dropped compression motor or the super wham-o-dyne head. Nice spool btw. These are awesome turbos, glad to see you enjoying them. Click here to enlarge

Around 10.8 degrees up top. Just about getting to the limits of pump gas and water meth by the looks of the log. Slight boost creep to just under 25 psi by the end.

This is on a slight incline but its the same stretch I always use.

Well then... add a pound of boost and 6* of timing to 509 whp... that's significant. I bet she feels healthy.

These are impressive Turbos you guys sell and it's a joy to feel the car keep going after 6000 rpm. Could always feel the stock turbos wincing at that point.
