VTT GC's 847WHP/726WTQ
Finally got another motor in the shop car, and on the dyno Friday before we left for the event on Saturday. With a little tuning by none other than our favorite N54 tuning guru Justin @V8Bait the car laid down a more than impressive 847WHP/726WTQ with an astounding 601WTQ by 3000 RPM held to redline, and 700WTQ held flat from 3500-6500RPM. This power, and tq was made with ONLY 25.4 psi at peak power RPM. We also made 776WHP at 21.62 psi boost at peak power!
This is a perfect example of why we continually tell people boost is simply measurement of restriction NOTHING else. Remove restriction, and power stays the same or goes up at the SAME boost pressure. This is our closed deck 9.5:1 compression motor, with fully built head, larger intake valves, Manley springs, TI retainers, etc. We are also running the EOS V2 manifold. Full specs below.
We took the car out to Shift Sector yesterday, and ran a new N54 1/2 record of 170.49MPH using the 776WHP map with 3 degrees less timing, then we tried to turn up the boost to the 850WHP map, but the we believe something happened to the diff or alignment, the car was all over the track, and very dangerous to drive, so we could not get a full run in. Even with the car near uncontrollable we managed a 168MPH run. We belive the car would have been close to 175MPH with the 850WHP map in it, had we been able to complete a full pass. (Chris will be doing a full Shift Sector post)

Very nice results! Is this still DI only, or a bit of PI too? And were the EGBP sensors not working correctly?

DI only 776WHP. literally Injector 2% duty cycle PI for 847WHP. We had fuel but it was getting up there on trims. I wanted the added safety. I capped the back pressure bungs long ago. Tire of replacing $80 dollar sensors every few weeks, have yet to find a sensor that can take 1700 degree exhaust gasses for very long. This is even with me running them all the way behind the transmission on long lines. It would still kill them. I got all the BP info I need in our initial testing.

Nice runs! It was fun checking the car out Saturday. Totally regret not putting in the effort to get the 135i done now. =/
Forgot to mention it but on putting the power down what has worked well for me is to rolling start off an anti-lag and then NLS every gear. If you let the suspension unload at speed with this power to weight its all over... As I'm sure you know.Burger Motorsports

T, we feel like something out back either in the diff putting more power to one wheel, or the alignment moved. We noticed one of the alignment bolts was well of its marks. Basically it was so bad, in the burnout box, with the wheel pointed dead straight you would start the burnout, and the car would literally start rotating like you were doing a donut, as soon as you launched the car it was trying to send you off the left side of the track. On the 850WHP run, it literally almost put me off the track in 4th at 120+. I got it pointed straight, and got back into, and I was literally sideways across thew centerline scared the hell out of me. Put the lower map back in, and did a couple more low power runs with much less throttle input. Will get the car on the lift soon, and see whas's up

Tony, line lock kit installed? Had something similar when one of my solenoids got disconnected

It does this on the track with line lock disabled, honestly the car was close to uncontrollable. The rear end was like steering the car

Scary stuff especially without a cage in the car! I'm watching that AD 4L80E conversion Donnie is doing closely... Replaces most of the crap factory parts out there.
That reminds me, you might have broken a bolt off one of the upper rear control arms. I had that happen once and it did the same thing. Would seem OK then float and kick out.Burger Motorsports

^ That felt like an alignment issue until it finally gave out (~20miles after I felt the issue). I ended up drilling out the hub and installing a heli-coil insert as the hub threads seemed damaged from the bolt backing out.

Incredible peak numbers here but it is important to focus on the context. For one, this is a built motor with dropped 9.5:1 compression. Secondly, these figures are achieved at 25.4 psi of boost. Compare the result to what the GC turbos previously hit at 29.3 psi of boost.
Not only is this setup making more power but it is doing so more efficiently. Further details from VTT below.

Crazy power is so high for the mild boost. How is massflow compared to say a 6466? I think Payam's old huge laggy turbo was only making 600whp at 23psi... 9 degrees advance.

Joe, thank you for the front page sir. I think peak numbers are a very small part of the story. The power curve is the real eye opener. I mean were talking 600WTQ from 3000-redline. 700WTQ for full 3000 RPM. I also expected the car to make less power with the .7:1 compression drop not more, but the head is obviously moving a lot of air!

I agree, people focus too much on the peak numbers. Making more power at less boost is the key. That has always been my way of looking at it...

This motor have a very small stroke. It does not even account for .1 increase in displacement. As for the head, I should have head our machine shop flow it, but didn't bother. As for GC+, we won't be releasing them. Another thing I have preached for years. Turbine size much much more important than compressor size. I put a much larger compressor wheel on the car with those big TD04 compressor housings some of the other guys use. Car picked up 500-600RPM of awesome lag, and no power. When the turbine is maxed, its maxed, doesn't matter how much compressor or compressor housing you throw at it...
