    Fuel-It STG3 Hobbs Switch Question (mounting location)

    Hey guys,

    This is a dumb question; more just curious regarding best practice. I have the hobbs switch for the secondary lpfp pump; previously I had been using the JB to trigger it and then borrowed a friends chargepipe with 'normal' taps for meth bungs.

    However - my actual chargepipe is tapped for an aquamist bung; the ID is smaller than that of the Hobbs switch.

    Anyone mounted the switch elsewhere? I was thinking about just adding in another T to the boost reference coming off the manifold...But since it's already T'd once (BOV and AEM Boost Gauge), would that be over doing it? I haven't drilled out the manifold for an NPT fitting so it's the stock diameter.

    Alternatively, I could drill tap the charge pipe to fit the larger thread size of the hobbs switch.

    Thoughts? Preferences? Just need to find a good boost reference.

    I did something cool with mine. I removed the T from the brake booster line that sent vacuum to the trunk for the exhaust flap solenoid. I T'd into a boost line and sent that to the line going to the trunk.

    I then tapped one of the wires for the exhaust flap solenoid to use as the 12V keyed power for the Hobbs. I forget which wire, but one is 12V constant when Ign is on, the other is the "trigger" for the solenoid. This kept everything in the trunk for me, using already ran lines and hose from the engine bay.

    Soon this will be moot and a Hobbs will not even be needed, as with 1 line of custom logic we can repurpose the exhaust flap to serve as a 12V trigger itself Click here to enlarge *no ETA on this yet though*

    That's a cool way to do it, for sure. Candidly, not sure if I have the energy to do all that routing.

    I may just pull the charge pipe and tap it with the proper size hole. The cylindrical shape of it seems like a bit of a PITA to drill tap.

    No routing necessary, all the lines are already there. Just move your Hobbs to the trunk. There is already a vacuum line ran to the solenoid behind the drivers side carpet in the trunk, and the power lines. The vac line that runs from the engine bay to there is just current supplied with Vacuum from the brake booster T. Take this T out, T into a boost line off your intake manifold, and it's a 1" length of hose to connect it to where it used to T into the brake booster line. All done in engine bay, in probably 3-5 minutes.

    I'll check this out over the weekend! Thanks dude. The description is throwing me off a bit (no fault of your own at all) but i'll investigate. I may PM you if I have further dumb questions if that's OK.

    Yessir! i believe this was one of my few decent ideas. I just need to figure out how to trigger a third pump......
