German testing shows BMW F82 M4 Competition Package is slower than standard M4 S55?

The Competition Package for the BMW F82 M4 and BMW F80 M3 sharpens the car with new suspensions pieces, a new differential, new 20 inch wheels, and new tires. It also increases S55 engine output to 444 horsepower which is just achieved through software tuning.

It is worth the $5500 asking price for the suspension, differential, and wheels alone. We all know you can get greater engine gains from aftermarket tuning for less money.

Still, the car is supposed to be faster than the standard M4. Look at the results of German magazine testing from Autobild and Sport Auto:

WTFBBQ? The elasticity is worse somehow. The standard car in Sport Auto testing shows an advantage to 100 kph and 200 kph. Only in the 0-200 kph sprint by Auto Bild does the M4 Competition Package show an advantage.

What is going on here? If we were to guess the new larger wheels are slowing things down a bit and also making traction off the line more difficult. It is likely that warmer weather contributed to the results as well.

In equal conditions with equal traction there is no way the Competition Package should be slower. We will just have to wait for numbers from US magazines to prove this.

For what it's worth, Carfection's review of the M4 GTS showed it lined up against a standard M4 and they said the GTS was "way faster." But then they didn't show the race...

Wish they showed the race but the GTS of course is going to be way faster compared to the standard M4 than the Competition Package.

A ton of data out there is bogus. Example in a table put out by Evo below on the GTS. I don't care $#@!ty the S55's top-end is...does anyone really believe that 130-150 MPH or 140-160 MPH acceleration is quicker in 6th gear than in 5th (the latter by a significant amount)? or 80-100 MPH is quicker in 4th gear than in 3rd?

Could be possible based on the torque curve and what RPM's they are at when starting the pull.
